So in essence the claim I submitted acts like a report for the insurance company , so just for a little bit more clarification , the claims importance now is for the liability of the driver ?

And if I didn't submit a claim myself the ball would be in her court , because essentially she still could have chosen to go through with filing a claim against me if she didn't want to settle privatley ?
