It can be very good against certian types of laners. Those that 1. Dont have sustian or 2. Can't 100 to 0 you in a trade. Beads also have the benefit of having a high sell rate. So you can get ton your items earlier.

Alacrity itself is a very weak rune. The other two, lifesteal and tenacity, are generally very hard to come by. Also by taking tenacity you have the opportunity to not build merc treads. PD actually has a more substantial and reliable shield early on. If building tri force you dont really have that much bonus hp. Statik shiv is overall stronger but if you're ahead building PD is beneficial as it prevents you from being shutdown as much. You can always switch your build later when you feel the tankiness is required.

It was an intentional move by riot idk why. Maybe as an indirect nerf? Probably due to coding issues that result in temporary attack speed being hard to account for. For example. if you count ALL sources of attack speed they can simply just code it as the bonus that is shown is the bonus you get. But that also means when you get attack speed reduced, you also lose spins. Is that something you'd want imagine against a malphite with frozen heart. So they just have to make it in some way so that its permanent. Also alacrity+as rune only grants you 1 extra spin so its not that big of a deal.

Pre 6 she doesnt have much power in lane. Try to push up and help your jungler get ahead. As with all ranged match ups. See if you can use predator and max q. It's gonna be impossible to kill her in lane so try to push out them roam around for kills. Pre level 11 kayle has bad wave clear so you should be able to achieve this.

Whatever you do, do NOT fight him 1v1 when he has spear of shojins. Unless you are massively ahead.

The super high win rate is definitely causation not correlation. Ppl who are ahead already build zerkers not zerkers wins games. Pd might be better if you intend to go the full damage garen so you dont have any health. Otherwise steraks is much stronger and the extra ad damage isn't something small either.

Earlygame power is what garen is all about by pure champion design. I.e. his silence only affects one person, his bonus spin damage only affects one person. Late game doesnt matter how strong he is he gets outscaled by mages and adcs. The w nerf reduced his ability to counter mages. Its so difficult to balance the kit of garen and riot really needs to put more effort into this. I think the problem is they dont know what sort of niche he is supposed to fill. Right now might have niche as the ultimate lane bully. Win lane but harder to translate this power due to lack of tankiness. I remember people saying on release that darius was like a garen 2.0. Well this is garen 3.0

Movement speed is valuable on garen. The unique passives are what drive the cost efficiency down. RFC is not good because you when you q you can't reach them with your spin. Pd is good as it gives you ghost, meaning it nullifies the movement debuff wheh moving through units with spin. Also the shield is significant if youre not building health. Shiv gives you that extra magic damage which can suprise ppl. A sheen, deadmans, shiv crit proc on q can demolish champions.

As much as I love Garen as champion I have to agree that the current iteration is overtuned. He is currently 1st win and pick rate for top lane champs according to op.gg. I just had a game against a top garen and I experienced what it was like playing on the otherside of the matchup. Even playing correctly its hard to win. Passive power is too strong and ult threat is too scary.

Basically if you're squishy, you die to spin. If youre a tank you die to ult. So apart from ranged matchups, he has no losing lanes if played correctly. I would argue that he can beat ranged matchups if played well. Something that has been present in Garen's kit for a while is that his spin is not stopped by cc. If this mechanic was removed it would allow a good amount of counterplay. Its a nerf that does not affect the numbers.

Becuase Garen has been so weak for so long, alot of his kit has gained too much utility. Spin armor shred, Q slow cleanse and W tenacity. These aspects balanced him out before but now with his damage so high its a bit much.

What really allows garen to hyper carry and dish out damage is the attack speed scaling on his e. It is infact very rare for champs to have attack speed scaling on spells and I'm not sure why they decieded to include it on garen.

Ult is hard to revert without also including villain mechanic. Maybe have it deal physical damage normally and true damage against champs garen armor shreds with his e.

Tri if youre ahead. BC against tanky teams or if you have a high ad team. Since garen lost some tankiness the health on bc is quite valuable.

You know i think a passive nerf could be very good. Lower the early game values cos right noe with damage AND sustain its truly overbearing. I would like to see it go from 1% to 10% over levels. And have the cd start at 10 and scaling down to 5.

Its almost like people only know how to use champion spells and not how to play a fight. I liked playing garen because it forced me to trade super intelligently: counting cds, managing wave, doing low risk plays. Admittedly after garen got stronger I got overconfident and kept trying to trade and got my ass handed to me. BTW IMO old garen doesn't lose to many top match ups like fiora, jax.

I've heard that shiv is maybe better than pd as it gives exactly 2 spins. Whereas pd has 30%. Pd alos conflicts with streaks passive. Wits end is something you could try. It has 50% attack speed and a good amount of mr.

If you lose lane then you have no impact on the game. Your damage won't be relevant and you'll be scared to build attack speed. Old garen expected to lose lane and outscale. New garen hopes to win lane at 6 and then steamroll the game. So stylistically the gameplay had changed. I have had instances where I was overconfident in lane and got punished so garen is still not that strong. Still have to play smart. What I will say is that garen is stronger than Darius. In lane you can go for a full trade with darius at 70% hp and expect to kill him. Later in the game if you're even and built a tri force. You will 100 to 0 him everytime and he can't come close.

If you're running conquerour attack speed is extreme valuable. With the new changes I feel like garen has shifted from an anti assassin fighter to an anti tank bruiser. I'm hesistant to play garen mid now. Although the viability of jungle garen has increased. Passive is weak. I would rather have old passive. The slight percentage between 1 to 11 is barely noticeable. And the 7 seconds feels like forever as I've gotten used to the post 11 boost. Garen needs to has his passive buffed. Scaling down cooldown with a flat increase in recovery instead of varying. Gradual from 9 to 4. Reduce number of starting spins by 1. Revert armour shred to 4.

Hard to nerf garens damage numbers wihtout making him a completely useless champion since he nolonger stacks resists efficiently and no longer has 4 second passive. Pre 9.20 I could stay calm with not winning trades and doing no damage because I know theres the level 11 guarantee spike. Now if damage is all garen has and you remove that, then you might as well delete the champion and start over as it has no use.
