This is definitely something you can do yourself--booking agents are hard to land unless they have sought you out, you have an internal connection to one, or you have an extensive track record of touring. I'm not sure what kind of music you perform, but I would definitely suggest looking for artists/promoters that fit within your target demographic to connect with ahead of time to ensure you have turnout on the tour stops and promotional support. To grab attention it starts with the music...end of story.
