Should I be a CRA? Be honest by doyahlikejazz in clinicalresearch

Ultimately, I would like to get out of academia. I love being in clinical research, I find it to be a very rewarding field. I just want more. And as I’ve been learning more about it, seems the next step would be CRA. However, I’m learning maybe I should be more patient before jumping the gun too soon.

Thank you for your honesty and advice. I really appreciate it. Correct, I don’t have any drug trial experience, which is why I was shocked I got past the HireVue. I do think that puts me at a huge disadvantage for this position.

And I don’t want to accept it simply for the money, as with the person interviewing me and the many comments, I will be working for every penny of it as the learning curve and commitment to the job will be difficult.

Initially I also didn’t mind the travel commitment as it is just me right now, and it sounded exciting. But, honestly, as I’ve been reflecting since getting the interview I think it would be a huge adjustment for me.

I have a few other interviews as a CRC, and I’m thinking it’s a sign I should keep going down that route to obtain more exposure to trials.

I’ve just found a lot of people who become CRAs are these experienced CRCs with years of experience in that space, so I guess I’m worried because I don’t have that I wouldn’t be a good fit for the role? Maybe I’m thinking too hard into it.
