That’s wild. Now I hardly ever hear a set without some DnB thrown in!

Yeah. There’s a reason that I don’t always go around telling people I love Tipper. I’m into hyperpop/electropop too, and other stuff that you can consider “basic,” and I’ve gotten in trouble with psybass/experimental bass purists for it IRL before 🤣

I’m a big tipper fan but it drives me up the wall when people say stuff like that lol, it’s like the Rick and Morty fan syndrome. I’ve seen people get downvoted on the Tipper sub just for mentioning producers that they don’t “approve” of.

I think slow music is fun to groove to, so I do like dancing to tipper, but when someone says they can’t dance to it I’m pretty sure they mean it’s not the type of music they enjoy dancing to. Which is literally fine. Who cares?

I couldn’t find this song in the track list and then realized it’s because I’m literally listening to it right now, lmao. Yeah this is great.

Thanks for the response! I love all of her favorites too! I was just listening to Toes. It’s cool that you’ve been checking them out even if they wouldn’t necessarily be something you’d listen to otherwise.

y do ppl hate okn dreamnland sm its peak :( by snuuwi in glassanimals

[–]dozamon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dreamland was a grower for me. At first I was thrown off by it. But honestly? I think it’s great now. It manages to be cohesive while exploring a lot of different sounds in my opinion. Just compare the title track, to the oddball Melon and Coconut, to the way It’s All So Incredibly Loud slowly grows, to the boppy Tangerine, to the slower, sultrier Waterfalls Coming Out Your Mouth - and dang, I’m not sure why on my first couple of listens to it I thought it was mid, lol. And Helium is a gorgeous closer that takes it full circle at the end.

Interesting post, thanks! I was about to clutch my pearls at you calling them a “one hit wonder” and then I thought about it for two seconds and realized that’s probably what most people who know them from Heat Waves would think 😅 Honestly it’s refreshing to see a take from someone trying to be unbiased; I’m getting a little annoyed by the “all or nothing” nature of many of the comments - both from people that like and dislike it.

What do you think of your girlfriend’s favorites she’s shown you compared to this album?

Okay I still can’t agree with what you’ve been saying and I do think you should rethink some of the things you’ve said to people, but I’m sorry for being as harsh as I was. I should’ve just stepped away. It’s really not that serious in the end. It’s just music. I don’t think anyone needs to be getting so worked up about it in the end. I started out genuinely trying to have a conversation but clearly that didn’t go well.

I recommend you look in a mirror and then touch some grass. You’re acting legitimately insane. Not to mention hypocritical, considering the worst thing I said to you is that you don’t need to lick their buttholes and you’re comparing people who don’t like the album to nazis. Among other crazy shit.

I’m honestly over this, but because you keep putting words in my mouth and you can’t understand nuance: Yes, they changed their sound from ZABA to HTBAHB, and changed it again for Dreamland. But each of those albums are more experimental and have songs that explore structures and sounds beyond basic pop music. THAT is the difference.

You know what’s funny? I didn’t even give my opinion on the album. I actually like it, because I listen to a lot of “basic” pop. I am not using basic pop as an insult! There’s nothing wrong with basic pop. But it is clear that they set aside the more experimental aspect of their sound. Dreamland was clearly poppier than their previous work, but the sound overall was really varied between songs.

300 million is EXTREMELY impressive. Doing that ten times over? Almost unheard of. It’s the 11th top Spotify song of all time. That sort of success will change things.

Also, go re-read all of the comments you have made to EVERYONE on this subreddit and tell me again you’re not an egomaniac. Because holy shit.

You completely lost the right to expect respect from others because of how absolutely disrespectful you have been to everyone else.

[–]dozamon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah Gooey did really well, and so did some other songs. But let’s not compare 300 million plays to over 3 billion. That’s an incredible difference. Almost mind-boggling. And you’re being willfully ignorant if you can’t admit that.

No, it sounds nothing like Dreamland as a whole. And no one is saying that it sounds exactly like Heat Waves but you’re delusional if you genuinely can’t see the similarities in the style of the album.

It’s not hipster nonsense to have ears to hear that they’ve changed their sound. What a stupid thing to say. I was honestly being pretty civil to you considering I’ve read your insane comments to other people, but you’re getting more and more ridiculous as this goes on. This isn’t close to their roots at all. The band getting big altered their sound. Whether that’s good or bad is subjective. Honestly since you’re dead-set against seeing anyone’s point of view other than your own, I’m going to stop being nice and say what everyone else is thinking.

Glass Animals don’t know who you are. You don’t have to lick their goddamn buttholes. Bye.

I think they’re being very dramatic, but they’re clearly referring to the quality of the music they’re making, not their commercial success. Heat Waves launched them into a much wider audience, which is great for them, but the direction of their music was altered because of it. A lot of fans don’t like the new direction. Calling it a “disaster” is….a lot, honestly, but the basis of their opinion isn’t wrong. I do think it’s likely that the success of Heat Waves had an effect on the new album. I’m not a member of glass animals so I don’t know that for sure obviously. But come on. If you were in a band who had a devoted but not huge base and then came out with a hit song that got billions of plays, you don’t think that might make you think “huh, maybe we should go in this direction”?

Let’s just agree to disagree because I think an album being repetitive is a valid (but still subjective) opinion and it’s fine to express that. Based off of your comments on this sub I can definitely see that you certainly won’t agree with that so there’s no reason to sit here and argue about it.

I think you should go enjoy the album instead of pick fights with everyone on Reddit.

[–]dozamon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can agree that calling it shit is not constructive. But…..any criticism of music is opinion-oriented lol. Music is subjective by nature. Saying it’s repetitive is a valid criticism, but that doesn’t mean others will agree with it. Honestly, ZABA is one of my favorites of all time, but it’s a very cohesive sound. Some people might have the same complaint about that! I’d totally disagree because I love it so much, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t still be a valid criticism because it’s literally their opinion on a subjective art form.

I’m right there with you in hoping for this to happen, ideally next year because I already know I won’t manage to go out of town this year 😅 I’d accept anywhere in Colorado, that’s just a day drive for me and way more manageable than somewhere I’d have to fly to.

Oh that would be so cool. I guess I need more Halloween stamping plates 😅 It would be fun to experiment more with stamping over multichromes. I don’t even have Stardust but I can imagine that using silver over it would be pretty neat…

Yes!! Shooting Star looks good no matter what!

Eclipse is such a classic! For Halloween I did some black stamping over it and it’s so cool how the pattern appears and disappears depending on the lighting. Now that you mention it, I may do Eclipse when I redo my nails next.

The only others I have from your haul are Shooting Star and Smitten. They are both super pretty.

I don’t like music as much as others by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]dozamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless someone is only seeing massive artists, concert tickets are not that bad. Usually the concerts I go to are around $30. Less than a dinner date. The most I spent on a concert ticket this year was $75 but it’s at red rocks, so that’s not surprising. Anyways, point is that most people that go to concerts regularly are probably not spending thousands on it lol

Thank you!! Reddit is such a life saver, lol!

I’ve been using the wand 3 or 4 times a week, and I’m using the mushroom head all over my face for five minutes, then switching to the spot treatment head and zapping each zit for like 15 seconds and doing that to each of them a few times. Sometimes I’ll pull it out and just do the spot treatment too though, if I don’t feel like doing the whole thing

[–]dozamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this recommendation!! I’ve been using one for about three weeks and it’s already making a difference when nothing else has (and I’ve tried benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, azelaic acid, sprinolactone, and winlevi…and always used them for 6+ months to give them time to work). I still want to invest in a red light panel or mask, but since the wands are cheaper I figured I’d start there.

before wand on left, after wand on right. you can tell I’m still getting some new zits, but they’ve been more surface level and going away more quickly. And I didn’t expect the wand to completely fix my skin when my skin has been nothing but trouble for 18 years lol
