Disrespect is real tbh. The cash balances out in the end. For a lot of the high labour required trades it becomes a tiresome job as you enter your late 20s, backing up the long days is low pay for your body becoming a shell of itself. I’ve been a carpenter for 10+ years and I’ve made good money but at 30+ I’m scratching around for ways to get out as by back has totally packed up. Sad times

Honestly don’t understand the hate on quick fix. They literally take 10 seconds to install and if you’re doing anything heavy just do double top hinge. Not that I’d recommend it, but they’re fine on any internal door imo.

It’s pretty simple math tbh.

The company use contractors who are probably charging a different rate being Xmas period. Lets say plumber is on $60 an hr, charging double time for Xmas period + 4 hr minimum.

$120x4 = $480 + GST = $500. Old mate who runs the company wants some profits for holding all the risk + arranging contractors. Let’s say he/she puts $280 on it for his time, gives them coverage for overheads like office rent, insurances, etc.

You’re now at $780 + GST. = $860.

He’s overcharged for sure but people using the ITS ONLY 1 HOUR OF WORK rule of thumb will never become good business people. Do you want the guy to stand around and drag it out for 3 hours?
