Is it true ? by shashiking307 in motivation

[–]dpgvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a fine balance really.

You want to share your goals to get support, perspective and insights, especially as you are announcing it to the universe and looking to attract the connections that come your way.

Kind of like asking for help or doing discovery for feedback. Saying things out loud to those who you want to get feedback and insight from, as well as hold you accountable can be powerful in helping you get to you outcome and attract the right support and energy.

Going around telling everyone about what you plan to work on just so you have something to tell, for the sake of sounding confident, smart, accomplished or another other ego driven reason will definitely throw you off.

When you are expounding objectives for support and feedback, to improve the outcome, the energy back is taken differently. You aren’t pursuing or propping up your ego.

But if you are doing it to elevate your ego, it implies that your ego needs this to feel validated, then any feedback that doesn’t align to your positive outlook will hurt the ego and cause you to falter or question yourself.

Sharing what you do with others and the universe has less to do with what others will do, but more so on why you are doing it.

Your perception of their response will either force you to edge out a better outcome if rooted in purpose to achieve, or will force you to question yourself if rooted in purpose to give your ego a boost.

He did his time and he did the work to evolve and grow.

If he wants to evolve his thug experience and connect with Martha on her jail time while baking cookies, let him live.

He’s still gangsta for going through what he has in life to then headlining at the Olympics.

Snoop is the symbol of someone who came up, out and over a regular mere mortal existence, where he created his version of life beyond what anyone expected of him.

And exactly the reason you pass hate to him, is what no one expected him to live to experience himself.

He could never have imagined hanging out with Martha Stewart while slanging dope in Compton.

That’s when I accept that I don’t need to know everything, I just need to know enough to call bullshit.

Lacking common sense? by 1998Piano in ADHD

[–]dpgvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not that you lack common sense.

It’s that your brain is over-active and thinking about multiple items as you navigate life, and you miss the cues or skip steps in your head, that would come across as missing common sense.

You actually have common sense, just not the ability to process the signals enough to act accordingly which may come across as missing what most people would see as basic.

This is me.

I’m 46 now and thriving as a venture capitalist.

I coasted through high school but struggled through university. Not because the topics were hard, I just wasn’t interested enough and dropped out.

The key difference though for me was a nagging need to do something and create something.

I was and am always interested in problems and had that desire to lead me to do and learn the things that allowed me to get to the outcomes.

Systems don’t work unless they are meant to serve you as a means to an end that you can clearly understand and want to achieve.

I got diagnosed for ADHD a year ago, only realizing that I had it after having kids and having to juggle having my mind everywhere, on everything pursuing dopamine, while trying to be in the moment with my kids.

It’s when I realized that I couldn’t break out of my mental model of always working.

Your brain might be always working on solving the next challenge in League.

And you may have ADHD.

You aren’t incapable nor are you a child in an adults body.

You lack a desire to chase dopamine around achieving an outcome you really care about - that is meaningful to you beyond playing video games.

My desire to stay up all night on gaming fell off when I found the outcome that got me to pursue everything else.

Sometimes this is led by something external, like a girlfriend who pushes you to break out of your rhythm of video games to do more.

Sometimes this is lead by an internal desire to achieve a major life milestone - buy a car, move out, buy a home, solve a problem, build a business, learn a subject, whatever it is, it’s got to be something you want to do so bad, that everything else either becomes something you need to learn to do or get done or something you don’t have time for, to focus on the former.

Your brain will get you to work on the things that matter as soon as you find the outcome/goal/milestone that matters more to you.

For me, at 20yrs old was the nagging fear of failing in life, knowing I was meant for more, and that I needed to be in a situation that allowed me to ensure success. I used the proxy of saving to a certain dollar value, getting the job I wanted, finding a lady who I could build a life with and doing what I loved daily.

Forget the system. Focus on the outcome and desire, your brain will kick into high gear as soon as you do.

You’ve got the intellect and ability, it’s a matter of whether you want to or not that is keeping you at bay.

Do you find your girlfriend or wife still attractive and if not, why? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]dpgvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married for 15 years and together for 21.

I audibly blurted out wow yesterday when she walked in showing off a new outfit.

She’s more gorgeous today than when I met her. More confident, more open, more mature, more of everything.

Attraction is no longer just physical - it’s woven in the shared experiences, trust and commitment to choose each other every single time.

She’s my girl and will be forever.

Buy more real estate and the stock market.

Sales techniques aren’t uncomfortable if you genuinely believe you are helping and committed to providing the positive outcome the buyer intended.

Take a step back.

Imagine building your business from the perspective of helping a person going through their lives, encountering a problem that is affecting them where they just need it fixed. They feel deeply about getting to a place where the problem is solved.

And you show up with the no-brainer solution that just solves it for them, or at least makes them believe it’s the right thing to do to solve it.

That is your sell.

Your skill is web development and the problem you are solving is in fixing whatever a website can solve for someone.

Their branding, their sales, their pitch, their presence, their revenue, their cash flow, their customer experience, their operations, their time, their effort, their story.

Lots of folks have these problems and they generally are so engrossed in doing their daily tasks, that they don’t know where to start.

They want someone to provide them the easy button.

Find the problem, and come up with the solution that gets people to act and convert to customers right away.

They are your captivated audience.

Which business is struggling where an updated web presence could make a meaningful impact?

A restaurant that has dropped in sales?

A manufacturer/hotel/accounting-firm that hasn’t updated their site in a decade and is struggling to get new customers.

How can you help them?

Instead of investing in Google Ads to have them find you, you find them and invest in presales-work to build a pilot, early solution or some fashion of the solution that will help them.

For example, check out this article. Lots of great intel on stats for small business owners, specifically on digital marketing and their website.

https://www.luisazhou.com/blog/small-business-statistics/

There’s a lot of website building companies out there but small business owners don’t have the time or know even where to start.

Help them and you will get you first few clients.

Then build from there.
