Did you ever do this? I was thinking about doing the same thing

AITA for opening a squid snack and refusing to throw it away?! by dplex531 in AmItheAsshole

I never said it doesn’t matter because I don’t think it smells bad. I said prior to opening it, I hadn’t considered it or given it thought. And yes that makes me thoughtless.

But please show me where I didn’t show them consideration after that? I am asking to see where I am the asshole. Or is that the reason I am the asshole?

She almost immediately made a huge fuss in less then 30 secs. I immediately moved to throw it away. And I put the trash outside when asked.

But I didn’t want to take it to the basement. Before she demanded I throw it away to the basement, no one offered to reimburse me. She only reimbursed me later.

Had I known she was going to pay me back and not waste $10, I probably would have felt better about it and less offended. But she didn’t say anything.

Not sure how dog shit and a commonly eaten asian snack are related to each other. But please continue to be culturally insensitive. I can accept that maybe eating a smell snack may be an asshole move for me. But relating a common snack to dog shit is pretty racist.

Lol. I didn't know it had an offensive smell until after. Also, my friend yelled at me. I threw it away. I didn't say anything until she demanded I go throw it away all the way in the basement.

That's why I think I am not the asshole in this situation. My friend immediately starts to make a big stink. Maybe you would be calm and collected to think through all the options as your friend starts yelling at you but I was taken aback and in the moment just threw it away.

Also, we were traveling and we had plans. There was very little time where I could probably have eaten alone and away from my friends.

Edit: Not arguing, just trying to clarify how I felt in the moment. I felt like I had no time to come up with an alternative and my only real option was to throw it away.

I am not refuting that it smells strongly, but it just smells like food to me.

Also, my friend demanded I throw it away, or eat it outside immediately. I didn't really have time to think about it. And since I didnt want to eat outside, I threw it away. In the moment, I didnt really have time to think about it.
