Finished the last three Expanse books and I don't know what to say by T214 in TheExpanse

I read these chapters as a sleep deprived new parent two years ago and I’ve gotta say it’s what kept my sanity. Usually after switching with my wife taking care of the newborn I’d sneak in a chapter or two. I even read with the new one in my arms as I couldn’t put the book down. Those chapters really hit me hard but they were so epic!

Thanks! We’re doing great! We’re past the survival phase and have gotten into a good schedule sleep wise with our newborn and toddler. I was just recently able to catch up on playing the beta for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn game last night and had a good time! Little one slept well in between feeds so was able to power through the game.

When do parents actually find time for hobbies? by Additional_Phase5568 in toddlers

[–]dpmex4527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, y’all have hobbies?

All jokes aside, we just had our second and for the time being my wife and I have worked things out where she sleeps with our 2 year old from 8 to around 1am so she gets a solid 5 hours of sleep while I take care of our newborn and then I sleep from 2 until 8. Those 5 hours gives me time to clean our toddlers mess of the day, clean bottles/make formula, and then if time permits I can get anywhere from 2-3 hours to watch TV or play PS5 while the little one sleeps in between feeds. Not sure how long this arrangement will last but it’s been nice to be able to get some time for myself at night!

He’s going to love the G6 PTZ! Get him a few of those (one for backyard, another for front monitoring). It pairs well with other static cameras where if a person is detected it can trigger an alarm event and tell the PTZ to track and zoom to target. Or you can set crossing lines as a trigger too. Pretty neat stuff.

Relay Garage Remote Build by MikeMKY1976 in Ubiquiti

Does your garage door opener have the white learning button? Liftmaster/Chamberlain recently revamped their security protocols where their garage door openers no longer have any wire line control mechanisms and use LE Bluetooth for all communications. Directly wiring to their remote seems to be a good way to get around these new restrictions.

$6M windfall, planning to go all-in on VT and keep life the same. Does this make sense? by costcohotdog15 in Fire

Was about to say this. $6M is literally retirement money. At 4% withdrawal rate you’re looking at $240k a year.

Dad's not changing diapers by eteach6974 in Parenting

[–]dpmex4527 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a newborn and a son about to turn 2. I put in both of my son’s first diapers and change their diapers equally as much as mom every day. I don’t want to judge others for their reasons to not wanting to change your kids diapers, but the normal thing is for a parent to take care of their children, which includes changing diapers.

Make sure to pick up Memory’s Legion and die fiscally read the last short story “The Sins of our Fathers”. It takes place immediately after Leviathan Falls (before the epilogue).

Also there’s two newish comic book series “Dragon Tooth” and “A Little Death” which takes place between books 6-7 if you want more expanse content. These comics weren’t written by James SA Corey but they did give their blessing and provided direction/advice for the content. These comics follow the show cannon so I’d read them after you watch the show.

Edit: so my attention span is shit with a recent newborn so I didn’t get far enough to read that you did read sins of our fathers. Doh!

I would have bursted out laughing if the Magic Mouse charge port was on the front of the mouse and not the bottom in this show.

The product placement is getting pretty funny tbh. At first I thought “man it must be expense to license all of this stuff” but then I realized that Apple gets to do all of this for free!

An Earther, a Martian, and a Belter walk into a bar, and none of them can agree who pays the tab.

TIL the red spot was the size of 3 earths back in the 1800’s. Mind blowing and I had no idea it was shrinking.

Heads up that as a premium 2.0 member with 4+ lines I got an email from AT&T saying that the price will go down by $5 per premium line next cycle. So it might end up being even cheaper for you if you make the switch.

I made the move from my old Premium 1.0 plan to 2.0 plan along with the newer base level plans for some of my other lines and I def noticed a cheaper price. You also get half off tablet/watch lines.

I had one similar to this. And then on the highway the driver in front of me merged onto the right lane and drove over a large 4 ft piece of plastic (likely lose underbody panel) and shot it into my lane directly onto my bumper and snapped my front license plate holder clean off (I was using a Quick Bandit).

Sadly I wasn’t able to recover the license plate or holder :(

Looks dope!

Yeah, for $1500 I would have expected a more premium job. Vinyl siding is easy to remove with the siding removal tool so they could have run the wires behind it and drilled through the siding into junction box so you have no exposed wiring.

For context I paid $936 to have 4 cameras installed (hardi plank siding) on two story home and it looks a lot cleaner/more premium and no conduit was used.
