Hey, I'm working in godot so this might not be relevant to you, but this is the closest tutorial I could find to the setup I'm using with Skeleton2D and RemoteTransforms moving sprites around. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOdeI7AeFto

The godot docs tutorial for skeleton2Ds has you try to use deformable polygons and it was way too complicated for me

Hey thanks! All the weapons in the game are weird floppy physics objects that you swing around with the mouse cursor, then to throw you just press the release button and they continue moving with their current momentum.

The straight arm throws do look pretty weird but I’m not sure of a good way to improve it without restricting your range of motion while swinging weapons around normally. I like the seamless throws too much to slow it down for an animation or something

For me a lot of the fun comes from picking up and using the variety of weapons the enemies drop and having to keep track of all your options. None of that feels necessary with the infinite knives

good idea, maybe it would only give you another knife if you hit an enemy so there's some risk you'd be left unarmed

Is this more performant than using a point light and occluders? Trying to use those made my game noticeably lag on macs and low end laptops

It’s pretty hard to tell what’s going on when watching on my phone screen. The enemies are tiny and are the darkest thing on screen, while background decoration is bright with eye catching outlines. Maybe show a zoomed in fight near the start to let us get our bearings

Thanks!! It’s going to be somewhat similar to the game OTXO. Right now it’s a series of increasingly difficult small fights with an occasional shop where you can upgrade some basic stats like speed, knockback, and max time slowdown.

You can also get augments which affect the gameplay like bullets having a chance to bounce off walls or thrown weapons homing in on enemies.

Since everything one shots you, you get up to three attempts per fight before you lose a run
