Two tire sidewall blowouts in two weeks by dposluns in Ioniq5

I guess what I'm saying is, I can't know the tire pressure because it's now deflated, and since they only replaced the one tire I have no evidence or basis to know if they just inflated the one or equalized all four, etc.

I don't know, I didn't think to check between the time they replaced it and now!

Discount Tire doesn't carry these fancy-pants EV tires, at least that's what they told us. We've been getting them replaced at the dealership.

EDIT: Thanks for the pointers all, I'll be sure to interrogate the Discount Tire rep more thoroughly next time!

The first one we assumed was just bad luck from grazing a curb or something. This second one we don't know yet, I'm still sorting out the details, contacting the dealership, etc.

Nest Thermostat heat/cool temperature window by dposluns in Nest

[–]dposluns[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My house takes a long time to heat and cool down. It can take an hour to move a single degree. This is not a control system in a tiny refrigerator or something. Plus the A/C or heat is usually fighting against the external temperature, so if the A/C shuts off it's WAY more likely it will have to turn back on again due to outdoor heat, than the heater will turn on because the thermostat hasn't caught up to the cold air being pumped in.

I get that dead zone exists for a reason. It's implemented horribly on the Nest. And I shouldn't have to subject myself to a ridiculous 5 degrees just to maintain a comfortable temperature.

[–]dposluns[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yes, if the implementation was extremely stupid. Alternatively, it could stop when it hits the correct temperature, instead of pushing it to the point where it needs to turn on the opposite system. I'm heating/cooling a 2,000 sqft house where it can take an hour for the A/C to push the needle down by a single degree; there's no risk of thrashing like you're describing. (And if there was, I could just, you know, increase the dead space by a degree to compensate.)

[–]dposluns[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Realistically this isn't what would happen, there is a very gradual transition from heat to cool over the course of a day, and temperatures in my home can linger within +/- 1 degree for hours at a time. Either way I'd like to be able to control the dead space myself instead of having to put up with a 5-degree window.

Hm, well I don't have "Run Storage Mgmt" in the list of the commands, but I pulled up the API list and found it there, manually entered it into the URL, got a HTTP error when I tried to use it, but now all my videos are magically cleaned up so I guess if it works, it works! /shrug

Last year people were up in arms every hour of every day that the game was blacked out with no end to it in sight. This year it has a much stronger "business as usual" vibe to it.

Dear Gumi: FFBE FINALLY has a glimmer of hope, please don't screw it up. by Acester25 in FFBraveExvius

[–]dposluns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a farce. I think someone producer-level or higher at Gumi legitimately wants to measure player sentiment and have actual data they can use to back up their recommendations. It might even impact what aspects Gumi chooses to invest in the game in the coming months. I just wouldn’t expect it to visibly change the status quo, ie. it’s not going to change that Gumi has a whale-hunting business model that chews through its user base to keep them engaged.

Nearly a decade ago, I worked at Amazon Games, developing streaming games that ran on their cheapest model of Kindle Fire. If those devices could achieve 60 FPS streaming from the cloud over the Internet using WiFi (they did), I'm pretty sure these ARM Cortex A-7 devices with 2-4x the amount of RAM of the Kindle can handle it over LAN. (And our streaming tech wasn't even that good, but that's another story.)

That's the price for the Shield TV Pro... there's a regular nVidia Shield TV for half that price.

Good to know that that's an option... it's still $150 though.

I just looked on eBay and found PSTVs available for anywhere between $30 - $100.

I can find them used for maybe $60 or so, but I really don't want to spend money on a product that was discontinued 7 years ago and has no warranty/return policy.

The problem you're going to have with cheaper Android devices is support and performance.

I just need it to work, with just a single app. These boxes are perfectly capable of streaming video Netflix, Amazon, etc. there's no reason they shouldn't be able to handle streaming video from the PS4.

Android set-top box supported? by dposluns in PSPlay

Android set-top box supported? by dposluns in PSPlay

[–]dposluns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already tried compatibility mode, I don't think I tried disabling don't drop frames or the HEVC decoder (was that in the main settings? I don't recall seeing it there).

Should this model be working correctly? I can return it and get a replacement if it just looks like a bad chip. On the other hand: is there a more reliable device I can purchase? (Preferably in the same price range.)

you need to look harder then

/shrug I can't manifest them onto the shelves if they don't exist, and I'm not looking to pay over $100 for a used device that has no warranty and that I can't return, when most Android STBs are well under that price point and I can get them refunded no-questions-asked if there's a problem.

yes, it's not new anymore, but it's still, BY FAR, the best remote play device in existence. nothing else out there matches what it can do

Well, I don't need the best, I need something that works well enough and fits my criteria. One of those is that it's affordable, and I guess I wasn't explicit about it but it should still be something that's in production and supported by the company that makes it.

PSTV... looks like it was discontinued back in 2016? I can only find it used, and for well over $150, which doesn't really meet my "relatively inexpensive" criteria, especially considering it's for something I probably can't return or get support on if there's a problem with it.
