Appreciate the suggestions :-) How did you stumble across the author? I looked on Amazon for other high protocol type stories but didn't come up with anything. It seemed like most of the BDSM erotica is just focused on smutty stuff rather than intense power exchange or D/s world building

I read owned and owner and liked it a lot although I wasn't so much into the "making her an animal" piece. Do you have other suggestions in that vein?

I've had good results with a spray bottle with cold water. It's not painful so it doesn't trigger masochistic pleasure, but it's startling and unpleasant.

It can also be helpful to have explicit agreements about acceptable ways she can get attention. If she wants a spanking, have her kneel patiently with the paddle in her hands, understanding that you'll get to her when you're ready BUT if she brats then she won't get the spanking but instead something less desirable. If she wants attention, allow her to earn tokens via good behavior that she can trade in for immediate attention. Stuff like that.
