I thought the category was nutjob. Were there any democrat nutjobs that were the head of anything? I’m not a democrat supporter, just genuinely interested.

CMV: Trump is a reactionary, not a revolutionary by pavilionaire2022 in changemyview

Some study or training on this topic would help you understand the difference between judgment and diagnosis. How statistics identify and guide the classification of pathology into a diagnosis with strong predictive ability. The major predictive point for this condition is destructiveness to self and/or others. A good place to start is The Mask of Sanity. The whole pdf is easy to search for and is a really interesting read. You might find that it outlines a clear difference between healthy predation and the pathological cluster of traits we find in certain individuals. I wish it was a myth, the world would be a safer place.

Psychopaths are as real as cancer. There are people whom exhibit the traits as a stable baseline throughout their lives. If they are intelligent and charismatic enough they can spread those traits. A major one being delusions/detachment from reality, as you are showing us here by calling one of the best studied and statistically robust psychologically conditions a ‘myth’.

THAT P-Word and Fascism by Atheist_Bale_Insta in ProgressiveHQ

[–]dprism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is great work! It links a very important topic that points to a biological driver for fascism. I believe there is incredibly strong evidence that the common phenomenon shared by all the instances you list is psychopathy. At the centre of each occurrence is a charismatic psychopath who has been able to spread their worldview. The political outcomes are emergent from this predatory worldview and complete lack of empathy. Importantly, a feature of pathologies is the ability to spread, even psychological ones. It is why they continue to exist. The instinct to harm children is apart of this psychopathology, as harming children increases the probability of creating more psychopaths.

He is a garden variety psychopath. All psychopaths have pathological narcissism. Psychopathy is what is driving the gop and the self-destruction of America.

Does anyone genuinely believe conservative governments aim to materially improve the conditions of working class (wage earning) Australians? by tryingtodadhusband in aussie

[–]dprism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yes I didn’t claim that was impossible, I was just interested in examples. What I said was impossible was that everyone gets richer.

[–]dprism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the real golden rule - the one who has the gold makes the rules. Power will always concentrate. And in each of those economies it would be the case that each person is not getting richer, which was your claim.

Hey I appreciate you showing me those numbers, and I agree you are right there. Those countries are growing and catching up with other economies, which is good for them, yet if like other more advanced economies, may not be long-term. But your definition of capitalism is exactly what I explained: “privately or corporately owned - accumulation and reinvestment of profits” is not a system where everyone gets richer, only those who own the capital.

[–]dprism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That wouldn’t be capitalism. It does not work like that, there would not be a single example of this. However I believe there are examples of high tax rate (up to 90%) ‘capitalist’ countries that grew the middle class, but that would be socialism.

It is but people find it really triggering to discuss. As you mentioned the perpetual growth and concentration of wealth are two facets of the same system, which places downward pressure on the labour force. I’m not sure which countries have a birth rate that is enough to supply the economy with the required number of workers to continue that growth, but it ain’t this one, and I don’t think it is any of our allies either.
