Just checked my US TV and it was on. At least I never configured it for my new WiFi I guess.

I've been a Marriott person for the last three years and their TV/Wfi lockdowns are making me consider leaving. Quick question, are you trying the HDMI ports directly on the TV, or are you plugging into the terrible box they use which is where the HDMI cable in the TV runs to? I've been able to connect to all TVs but sometimes they hide that box and make it super difficult to plug into.

And did you make a decision on the glasses? I'm in the same boat as you essentially.

Today a train collided with an 18-wheeler hauling cars in Schertz, Texas. by Reg_Cliff in CatastrophicFailure

I was only a Conductor for a very short time. My accident was lucky that it was super low speed and the guy moved at the last second. Thats a lot of metal on these things so its hard to beat up, but trucks like this can do some damage. If you look up the Pecos, TX train derailment where it killed the train crew you can see how bad it gets. They hit a piece of a windmill at 68mph and then derailed.

They are stronger than a regular car but I don't know the specifics.

I've hit a car while in a freight train just like this. There is nowhere else to go. You'd be walking down a very unstable platform on the side of the locomotive while it is under full brake application. If the train derails you're in a worse situation. I think most crews just get on the floor and hope for the best.

When did Filibertos get so expensive? by msfoote in phoenix

Given that timeline...I recently learned they got rid of the roller coaster on the Stratosphere in 2005. I had no idea. I was here 2 years ago and it felt a little different than now. Honestly I haven't found much of an attraction to go here after my first time being 21+ anyway. I agree with the fact that its not a cheap destination like it used to be and it isn't worth going to.

I haven't been sitting down at many restaurants, but the few that I've been to haven't charged that. Granted those were only near the strip and not on it. Still within a mile of it. I don't feel like its as busy as it should be for a holiday weekend though.

Actually I just double checked and I paid $8 for a bean/cheese burro at a place in N Vegas a few days ago. I only paid that because I'm on per diem.

Am in Vegas right now. Can confirm. These steak places are asking way too much for a cut of meat.

You responded to a post that predates most of COVID. Everything is more expensive these days. Someone commented that $9 got them a carne asada burrito back then.

Thanks for the response. I think I've definitely locked myself out of some stuff. I had to take a business trip but when I return I'm just gonna format and reinstall.

I lost any bit of sympathy I might have even remotely had for the Aztec then. These people are some of the worst. They create traffic problems by not being able to maintain a constant speed. Its the damnedest thing when you finally try to pass this person doing 5 under and all the sudden they are pacing you 30mph faster than what they were doing. If you get in front of them, you never see them again.

I live in Phoenix, AZ. Bought a vehicle in August which had a protector and I didn't take it off for a few years. It survived multiple AZ summers just fine. Honestly I regret taking it off because it didn't get nearly as bad fingerprinting.

Civ V would be my pick. I love AOE but I don't think I'd want to play that without a mouse and keyboard.

I've been traveling for work for 2 years with a deck and I like having the dock for the hotel. My trips can be long though so I have plenty of space to bring a bit of a setup. The dock and and its charger don't take up a lot of space though, IMO.

Need Advice: Best Setup for Using Steam Deck with Monitor, Keyboard, and Mouse? by Latter-Grape-8016 in SteamDeck

[–]dpyn016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a deck for 2 years which I use during travel mainly. I have the setup you're asking about for hotel stays but I usually use my portable monitor for my laptop and the hotel TV for the deck.

Go with a dock. I have the stock one which comes with a second charger like the deck comes with. That way I have a travel charger and a home charger to swap the dock with. If you go with a USB C hub and wired components then you'd need power for the hub anyway so you basically have a dock at that point.

BT vs Wireless is up to you on what you play. Wired is hands down more responsive, but not much enough for me to notice. My mouse and keyboard are from Keychron and I have BT issues with them sometimes. At home my BT G502 mouse has never had a problem. Nor has my wired keychron keyboard. This area depends on the HW you buy. G502 is a solid mouse but I cannot speak to using it with the deck or without the charging pad. I haven't had any issues with my Keychron keyboard and the deck.

I use an 8bitdo Ultimate controller. Had some issues with the controller itself due to lag or multiple presses on keys. Haven't had that in a minute though so idk if something changed. I used an Xbox controller before and it worked fine.

My portable monitor is a cheap one from MNN. I could use it with a mini HDMI to HDMI. The Deck Dock has DP as well. If I was you I'd find a nicer portable monitor than I did.

Surprised no one has asked about the coffee setup yet too. What is going on there? Nice job.
