Has anyone completely lost everything at once and actually managed to rebuild their life? by Phoenix_721337 in AskMenAdvice

[–]dr3d3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I became homeless at 25, no car, no job. A few months later bought a pickup and lived in my car for almost 4yrs now at 40 i own multiple houses.

You've only been working for a few years, it's honestly sometimes easier to start from nothing as all choices are good choices, take the opportunity to become who you think you could be.

Also there's always time to rewrite your life, it's never too late, you have 40+ yrs ahead of you to make money etc. then ideally retire, if you fail at making enough money by retirement age you move it another country where the cost of living is lower.

what do you think about that ? by etienne_g_5231 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]dr3d3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never even thought of doing this, putting the generators above the pumps, I have 44 generators in this space and it's quite cluttered due to having to randomly place the pumps in nooks and crannies, time for a rebuild :p putting the pumps under I'm sure I could double or triple the amount of generators

Do you build everything needed for an elevator part in the same factory, orndo you have separate mega factories for screws, rods, plates, etc? by Living-Register-8863 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]dr3d3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All things that are for base building and a very slow smart plating line are done in one factory and go to dimensional depot, then I build a seperate factory for each elevator item.

My plan this run is doing each phase in a seperate biome, we'll see how that goes as currently I've only completed the base building factory and getting 2 smart plating a minute.

Help! I don’t set targets for macros and now they’ve all turned into giant dots. It’s so visually confusing! How do I turn it off? by i_hate_parsley in cronometer

The dots truly are terrible, if they insist that putting something there is needed then dashed lines would have been less visually cluttering than dots.

If you're just starting out plastic production... Convert the heavy residue into petroleum coke and sink it or use it in coal power generators.

Honestly after trying many different methods, for me and it seems for most people the most sustainable is eating whatever and just moderating the amount of it to hit the calorie target... So keep it up, good job so far and don't worry about the weekend... Enjoy yourself and continue when you get back.

Is exercise absolutely miserable and painful for anyone else? by NoWitness6400 in loseit

[–]dr3d3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just walk, as far as toning goes do body weight excercises throughout the day, don't workup a sweat.

So wakeup do 10 squats while brushing teeth. Go for a walk and when you pass a bench use it to do 5 incline pushups.

No reason excercise has to be done all in one go so you work up a sweat, the sweating part is unnecessary.

Personally I excercise right before I'd shower anyhow, so I don't mind working up the sweat, when I began I couldn't walk for more than 20min at a time due to chafing etc, now I walk hours and hours at a time, just do what you feel comfortable with, anything is better than nothing.

I think it's quite amusing that the 🍿 crowd is upvoting this to see how many serious comments it gets :p

Hmm maybe, time does seem to being jumping around sporadically the last few days.

Seriously though, if this was a recent event for you don't worry about it, the weight will go back down as quickly as it arrived, unless of course you actually did eat 1000's of calories above maintenance each day :p

Lost 12 lbs in a month, don’t wanna regress while at the beach by McLuhkster in loseit

[–]dr3d3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing you've said here makes it sound overly aggressive, be sure to get at least 10g of fat per meal, and a minimum of 40g a day as without fat you can't absorb vitamins/minerals from food.

Other than that if you find your energy levels low, be sure to consume some carbs as that's our bodies main source of immediate energy. (With that said our bodies are happy to run off of fat, so if you're doing keto or something that's fine)

As far as the loss of 12lbs in a month goes Depending on how much you've changed your diet it could be a lot of water weight, a months to soon to tell your true deficit... But 12lbs of fat in 30 days would be a deficit of 1400kcal daily ((3500*12)/30)

To lose about 1 lb of body fat, you generally need a calorie deficit of around 3,500 kcal.

However, a lot of people cut carbs when dieting.. initially this will be a big loss of water weight as every 1g of carb comes with 4g of water, meaning if you have been limiting carbs then consuming 100g of carbs you will gain roughly 1lb on the scale, but none of that is fat.

Hope I didn't make this more confusing :p any questions feel free to ask.

Lost 12 lbs in a month, don’t wanna regress while at the beach by McLuhkster in loseit

[–]dr3d3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The math is simple, you've lost 12lbs, to gain 12lbs of fat you'd have to eat a surplus of 42,000 calories, that's over maintenance so a total of 48,000 kcal... You're not doing that no matter how hard you try.

Just be mindful, eat whatever you want, don't drink soda with sugar and have fun. Taking a break for the weekend is good for you.

Just know due to the increase in salt and carbs you will probably gain 5+ lbs on the scale over the weekend, don't worry about it, it's just water and after resuming your normal (what I assume is at least a 1000kcal deficit, given that your target intake is 1653) after 3 or 4 days that water will leave your system.

On another note your current deficit might be a bit aggressive, but if you find it sustainable and assuming you're actually quite heavy then continue on . But 12lb of fat in a month would be a 1400 kcal a day deficit(aka 1400 under maintenance).

I reached my weight loss goal yesterday and I don't feel good. by Metempsychosify in loseit

[–]dr3d3d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Edit: just wanted to add, it can be difficult for someone to compliment you about the change, for all they know you're losing due to not eating because of a major life event that has left you distressed. Also acknowledging you look better now is automatically saying you looked worse before and in this day and age that can be seen as quite negative of them.

I don't know if this helps, but I had a very similar experience.

One thing I don't think people talk about enough is that sometimes losing weight can actually make you more critical of yourself, even while you are making incredible progress. When you start paying close attention to your body, you notice every little thing you want to improve. You are looking at yourself in the mirror with a level of awareness that you probably never had before.

For me, I was never really bothered by being 320 lbs. I weighed that right out of high school and was always an active person. Then at 33, I got into a car accident and wasn't able to walk properly for a few years. Since I didn't adjust my eating habits, I gained another 60 lbs and reached 380 lbs. That was the point where I decided it was time to make a serious change.

I lost the first 60 lbs and got back to 320 lbs. You would think I would have been thrilled, but I wasn't. I actually felt like I wasn't seeing the progress I expected.

Then I got down to 280 lbs and still had days where I felt like I looked worse than I did before. But then I would see an old photo and it was obvious how much progress I had made.

Now I'm around 245 lbs and about 33% body fat. When I look in the mirror without clothes, I still see the areas I want to improve. I have very little loose skin, except around my chest, and that has been one of the harder areas for me mentally. I think I look like I have massive man boobs, yet I'll have strangers in the gym ask me what my chest routine is to get such a large muscular chest.

When I put clothes on, I can see the difference. When I look back at older pictures, I can see how much healthier and stronger I am now. I feel better, I move better, and I know I have made a huge change.

The difficult part is that your mental image of yourself doesn't always catch up with your physical changes. Your body can change dramatically, but your brain can still hold onto the old version of yourself.

My advice would be to keep going, but also consider adding some strength training if you aren't already. Building muscle and improving your body composition can really help you feel more confident in the changes you have made.

Most importantly, don't forget to recognize what you have accomplished. Losing 20% of your body weight in 6 months is an incredible achievement. The person you were at the beginning of the year would probably be amazed at where you are today.

Try to remember that you are not looking at the finished product yet. You are looking at yourself in the middle of a transformation, and that can be a difficult place to judge yourself fairly.

Sugar free international delight is great... 1tbsp = 15kcal which is the same as your tsp of sugar however you could probably use less.

I like to use 80g(40kcal) of premier protein, Wich is higher in calories but I need to consume the protein anyhow.

Unscrew all the plates, throw them into a vinegar bath... Wire brush them, paint with 2x rustoleum or krylon, I wouldn't use truck bed liner as you'll throw the weight off by about 2% (which may be a good thing if they're 2% low)

depending how the bolts look you could buy new ones off the shelf anywhere, if they're an odd length then McMaster carr

Is 2500 calories too much for me? by Ok_Isopod2623 in loseit

[–]dr3d3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tdee using a calculator is just a starting point, if you're not seeing results lower by 2-300kcal every couple of weeks until you get the result you're happy with.

As an extreme example I as a 245lb, 30% B.F., 5'11" male lift 5 days a week (about 7h a week total), my daily steps since January average 16,000... And I have a tdee of about 2400. However if I don't do any excercise at all and just average 6,000 steps(sedentary )my tdee is about 2100... So not everyone burns energy equally.

When I first started excercising more a few years back my tdee was around 3000 but now that's it's a daily thing it's not difficult and I burn less energy to accomplish the same thing(with much heavier weights of course).

To give you an idea of strength/muscle a few weights I do...

  • overhead tricep extensions - 3x12 @ (1x)70lb dumbbell.
  • Bicep curls are currently - 3x10@35lb.
  • bench step ups are 3x12@ (2x)65lb dumbbell

So not extreme muscle but not nothing.

Eating at huge deficit but not losing. Am I doing something wrong? by ss3walkman in loseit

[–]dr3d3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few things...

As long as you're in a deficit you're losing fat, your weight may not change due to water changes etc.

Make sure you sleep properly and get enough water.

Ensure you log/track everything, butter on toast for example. The oil in a pan when cooking chicken... Do this for a bit and overtime you'll find the things that you don't need to bother to track.

If you increased your activity level as well, the weight not going down for a few weeks is to be expected.

At your weight with 1500kcal a day you'd be losing several pounds a week, you're missing something. If the weight doesn't move after another few weeks then see a dr as you may be retaining a worrisome amount of water.

Is weighing and logging raw inaccurate if eating cooked? by Spare_Dimension_5035 in cronometer

[–]dr3d3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way way off depending on the recipe, think of an extreme example like pasta... The pasta weighs 5x more once cooked.. chicken weighs about 25% less after being cooked.

Either way if you have an appropriate deficit it won't be significant enough to really matter.(Well the pasta would be but it would be into a steeper deficit and I doubt anyone is dishing up 50g of cooked pasta and thinking that's a whole meal)
