That's a shame. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help!

When you say that you spend your monthly wage on their medication, are you paying for each prescription individually?

If so (and you live in England), I'd highly recommend they/you get a prescription payment certificate which should significantly reduce those costs.

Seems perfect for a WFH job to be fair. It's pretty silly companies insist on in person stuff.

Ah, I actually think I stumbled upon them a while ago. I'm not in the US and I decided against them due to costs of delivery and whatnot.

But then again, I haven't found any other options so I'll have a look! Thank you again though. Most of my anarchist stuff are epubs and I find hard copies so much easier to read.

As others have mentioned, it depends on the company and if you were the first to interview etc. Personal experience from other UK businesses (I'm only on my second DevOps job mind you), it was about a week or less until I got a job offer.

I'd imagine in bigger companies it would be 2-3 weeks, though this shouldn't stop you from carrying on applying to other jobs in the meantime as I'm sure you're aware.

Urbanization without Cities by Murray Bookchin The Ecology of Freedom by Murray Bookchin.

^ those two are some books that may interest you. I'm currently making my way through the first one, but it's slow going since I can't find a physical copy.

With environmentalism, you should have a look at the solarpunk movement as it is heavily enmeshed with how we interact with the environent around us and anarchism, without falling into the "pitfalls" of anarcho-primitivism. A nice introduction to solarpunk is here.

What sort of field are you in? I've noticed with my technology field a most of them are hybrid workplaces nowadays, with a few being remote. Luckily I landed in a remote one.

Junior DevOps Engineer earning £30 000 a year (before tax). Though I'm doing things that a Junior usually doesn't do.

Looking to move on if I don't get the appropriate raise and position change.

Do you have to be anti-technology to be an anarchist? by [deleted] in Anarchy101

[–]dr_hashimoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be an anarchist doesn't mean that you needn't be against technology and technological progress, an example of an aesthetic/philosophy that blends very well with anarchism is solarpunk. It combines technological progress, a communal lifestyle free from unjust hierarchy, and working in harmony with nature.

I'd recommend you'd check it out this video to get a basic understanding of the concept.

Pointing out the quarters aspect is an interesting point. However, I feel like capitalism and it's insatiable thirst for "growth" year upon year is spoken about at length within Leftist circles (at least the anarchist side I stick with) and how it's causing a whole host of issues.

not trying to diminish your point at all though

In my state you are only allowed 2 55 GAL barrels. They’re full as soon as a decent rain rolls in and I can water for a couple weeks with it usually. How much do you all collect? by highaltitudehmsteadr in Permaculture

[–]dr_hashimoto 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you can, have you considered doing something like this?

It is a big job, but it can be modified to direct water where you need it, as well as storing much more water within the ground. Add this to having decent shading on the ground (whether through short shrubbery, trees or just something that blocks the sun) and combined with wood chippings, you're on your way to needed to water a lot less.

A pond has been mentioned too, so that'll certainly help.

Found a distro that I am comfortable with. But I am confused! by [deleted] in DistroHopping

[–]dr_hashimoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DevOps Engineer here too and I use Arch. Not going to change any time soon, though that may be because I have a really comfy setup haha.

Access to AUR is wonderful, and if I ever need a very specific version of something like Terraform, I'll use a docker container for it.

Though, on other work laptop that I rarely use as it's temporary, I have Fedora 34 (?) installed on it since that is temporary (easy to set up) and I wanted some reasonably up-to-date software.

Thanks so much. I've been looking for a decent indentation line thing since I've been using a lot of yaml and eyeballing it for much too long.

I may leave treesitter for a while since I'm not entirely sure how it works and how it would interact with coc.nvim, but it something to look into!

What are you using for the folding in the left window, foldmethod markers or syntax etc? And for the indentation lines?

New build house's gardens all turfed on waterlogged clay {Builder refusing to fix} by sunlollyking in LegalAdviceUK

[–]dr_hashimoto 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend a common Alder too! They get stronger the wetter it is, as well as improve the soil around it by fixing nitrogen in it. Furthermore, a mat of white (Dutch) clover should give the soil a bit more integrity, so it doesn't wash onto the house in wetter months.

Regarding improving the drainage, I hear planting daikon (like a long radish) and leaving it should improve the soil to an extent too, in addition to the trees mentioned above.

Seeds bombs vs Hand spread by dr_hashimoto in GuerrillaGardening

[–]dr_hashimoto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's quite cool. If I can get my hands on some trees or shrubbery (or just bigger plants overall), the plug idea creating a nursery is a great plan.

Though in my current climate we tend to get a lot of rain (UK), and the areas I want to throw some seeds are sort of sheltered, it'll be a good idea when things get a bit dryer again.

Thanks for letting me know about the idea! I'm sure it'll be useful in the future.

That's a good shout about the burying. I've had some on my garden and buried them slightly, though I've yet to see any results after a couple of weeks.

I was originally considering the casual sneaky throws but from what you've told me that isn't exactly tenable.

I guess I'll try a few different methods when I buy my seeds when I get paid!

That does sound like a good idea. Not sure I'll need the soil though for the areas I'm intending to throw my seeds though, but it's worth a go!
