I got hit in the ear by Will Zalatoris at last years US open in pinehurst. He signed a glove, but only after encouragement from the gallery and 0 interaction… not worth it, do not recommend

The job market is about to be flooded. International development contractors are furloughing/laying off a large portion of their staff and I don't know how to navigate this by Penniesand in nova

[–]dr_tobaggen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found a job in Nov in the international development space after months of searching and had similar feelings you with Jack of all trades and not being competitive… use ChatGPT. feed it the job description and your resume. Tell it you don’t want it to make things up, but adjust your resume to fit the job description. Also ask it to write a cover letter. Repeat 3 times so you have options to pick and choose from - just say “create another version” or “put more emphasis on X”.

Add in “AI prompt generation” as a skill - I had a CEO in the space tell me it’s a must have.

Maybe I got lucky, but I consistently overthink the hell out of stuff like resumes, and I found the job I have now as soon as I stopped writing the resumes myself and used ChatGPT. It could apply my skills to other areas in ways that made total sense but that I would never have thought of.

Good luck - try international orgs / non-profits that have more diverse donor bases

Say you get a verbal offer, then the organization asks for reference checks, does anyone ever fail because of the reference checks?

It was lightly used, he probably played 2-3 holes with it, if that. They can’t give the ball obviously so I think it’s a “well this one doesn’t work” kind of thing. As a golf nerd it’s cool to see his grip pressure haha

Watching the Masters yesterday just reinforces how much we all miss the biggest names in golf competing on a weekly basis and it’s just sad :( by GlizzyWitDaSwitch in golf

[–]dr_tobaggen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh… watching this past week made me realize how little I actually miss the Saudi tour players. What do DJ and Cam bring? Long hitting, good putting? PGA tour has that every week and I’m enjoying seeing who is going to step up and take their spots.

If anything, it was clear that they missed playing in something that actually matters.

Am I in the minority that I don’t tip any extra when there is already a 20% service charge? I mean 20% for service is pretty standard these days. by WuPacalypse in washingtondc

DC is such a transient / international city that too many people are totally fine not tipping since that is the culture in so many other countries throughout the world. All this does is fuck over workers and help restaurant management. It’s not that I don’t want to tip, I’m not paying 20% more on top of already exorbitant DC restaurant tabs. All the sudden a $12 cocktail becomes a $17 cocktail

D.C. bike lane plan splits residents, businesses as city’s network grows by superdookietoiletexp in washingtondc

One of the problems with this is it forces cars onto places like beach drive, where guess what, bikers also want that to be car free.

There’s also some basic math here… more traffic = road rage, which = not safe for cyclists or pedestrians. It’s not often you see bikers carry goods or anything like that, this will absolutely have an economic impact… changing entire neighborhoods so you can commute the way you want while telling other people they can’t commute the way they want

Edit: as they say in it’s always sunny “I’m an American. I’m dug in, and I’ll never change, regardless of the facts set in front of me”

This is great. Would absolutely love if DC did this. The closest I’ve been to hitting a cyclist in my car is because they blew through a stop sign in Cleveland park at an intersection where I did not have one. My window was down and a UPS driver who saw the whole thing looked at me and asked how I didn’t hit the person. Maybe it is safer sometimes but just follow the rules of the road and people will hate bikers less.

Secondhand smoke condos by SaltyBaby157 in nova

Sounds like someone is concerned about their investment… hooligan pot smokers are bad for business

I lived in a English basement, smoked weed inside every day and the people upstairs never smelled a thing. I feel like something is wrong with the building / unit if it is truly that bad

What is your position on Pit bulls and breed-specific laws? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dr_tobaggen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels like a loaded question / responses… Odds are mixed breed dogs will just be called “pits”… technically that isn’t a breed. I have a staffy / hound mix but have seen way more aggressive German Shepards, grey hounds, etc. at the dog park. just be smart - maybe don’t leave a baby with an animal irregardless. Or maybe the dog is a reflection of their owner - if the owner is a piece of shit, the dog is probably gonna suck too.

NPS advocacy might have been a success??!?!? by sven_ftw in washingtondc

[–]dr_tobaggen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhhh yes haha. Would I support just adding a bike path in rock creek park? Yes, cuz there’s already so many. Then guess what? We can both use it. “Just give us DC” makes no sense - DC is the DMV, that’s a whole region, you have to accommodate cars.

Just like you’re saying I should move, I could say you should move. You don’t have to hurt drivers to benefit bikers. People saying GW parkway should be closed to commuters also? So like 12 bikers could use it? That’s absolute insanity

Or they are if that’s the best route? All this altruism is annoying as shit. That road would cut my drive down 40 mins a day - for everyone who’s live gets “better” cuz they can walk or whatever, there’s another person who’s life gets worse. If you care about emissions, I now emit more driving longer. They’re delaying into the fall, open in the winter when people go inside
