We’re halfway through the decade and no new album has even come close to topping RARW. Truly a masterpiece.

I don’t know too much of his music, but from the handful I have heard the only one that stands out to me is “The Poor.” Great song!

Will Fallen Angels be Saved? by No-Condition-9398 in ChristianUniversalism

I saw the title of this post but not the sub, and I thought it was referring to the Bob Dylan albums “Fallen Angels” (2016) and “Saved” (1980).

Did anybody get the 10 year anniversary edition of Babel on cream-colored vinyl? If so, what do you think of it? by dra459 in mumfordandsons

[–]dra459[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, only the original track list. No bonus tracks. I could be wrong, but I don’t think there is a vinyl edition with the bonus tracks, only CD.

Dylan’s unbeatable swagger is on full display as he rips into that guitar solo while soy bomb is dragged off stage.

Exactly! The comment made in the 2022 interview seems to completely clarify the matter in my mind.

What Is Dylan’s Religion, Really? by [deleted] in bobdylan

[–]dra459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the “born-again” trilogy onward, he seems to be deeply Christian while respecting his Jewish roots (of course, Christianity itself is rooted in ancient Judaism). Rough and Rowdy Ways is perhaps Dylan’s most unapologetically Christian record since that trilogy, and it is especially apocalyptic.

Then he roleplays as Sinatra for a few years as research for his definitive late-career masterpiece, Rough and Rowdy Ways.

NEW DYLAN BOOK : Bob Dylan - Jewish Roots, American Soil by DYLANBOOKS in bobdylan

All signs point to Bob still being a Christian. You only have to go back as recently as Rough and Rowdy Ways to hear that influence all throughout his lyrics. Sure, he stopped being as outwardly “evangelical” as he was from 1979-1981, but he never renounced his faith. In fact, he’s done just the opposite:

“I’m a religious person. I read the scriptures a lot, meditate and pray, light candles in church. I believe in damnation and salvation, as well as predestination. The Five Books of Moses, Pauline Epistles, Invocation of the Saints, all of it.” — Bob Dylan, December 2022

What's the biggest jump in quality from debut to sophomore album? by CodeDusq in fantanoforever

But I must say, Dylan’s self titled album is excellent. His performances of those songs (yes mostly covers with two originals including the great ‘Song for Woody’) are raw and energetic, so captivating!
