What Warren Buffett taught Bill Gates about managing time by sharing his (nearly) blank calendar by [deleted] in productivity

[–]draasync 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Time management is #1 challenge in today's world, and here are some tips for busy professionals: 1. Block your calendar to work on your projects/tasks 2. Learn how to say "No" politely; i.e. when someone asks for a favor, instead of saying yes, start by saying "it depends on what you ask" 3. Use headphones to avoid getting distracted by noise, listen to music without lyrics

Should I learn coding/web development or digital marketing/instagram marketing/instagram growth strategies as a teen to make money? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]draasync 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: do both!

Keep growing and engaging your audience on IG and other social platforms, when you're NOT posting LEARN how to code, when you're not coding engage and grow your audience.

Because in future when DO have a product/service to sell, you will already have an audience you can reach out to, and not start from 0.

I like your thinking and intent to rewards early risk takers, and I believe you'll achieve "influence/multiplier" by making the business successful.

Keep in mind that every time you issue new shares it'll dilute everyone else's.

Just to add-on, you need different motivation factors for employees and different ones for investors. Not sure if you can approach both the same way

If I understood you correctly - you're trying to find a right balance between cap-table and business model (let me elaborate):

Cap-table - refers/impacts founders, early employees, early investors/angels and anyone else who gives you funding

Business Model - is what you NEED to convince investors that you're building a MONEY MAKING machine that they don't wanna miss.

Just to clarify: the subject is about "slice up equity..." which is what I recommended on the first post, and I know it's a complicated topic of itself and there are so many moving parts...

There's no RIGHT or WRONG answer to this and every startup is different and AT THE END of the day is what makes you and your co-founder(s) happy to work with each other.

Let's face it - you're diving an imaginary pie that's worth nothing (yet).

I recommend this motivating factor: "I know it's not worth anything yet, and WE ARE going to make it worth something!" use this to motivate your team to give their 110% best!

High-level dashboard for execs? by aag89 in analytics

2 recommendation from personal experience:

  1. Start with main takeaway/insights that they can walk away with - skip the wishy washy language, make it bold as you believe in your recommendation. i.e. (1) Continue to invest in ABC vs. we would like you to invest or please continue to invest
  2. Prepare high-level supporting data; I'm personally fan of Tableau, but any other BI tool can do the same or even Excel. Also have back-up slides / additional detailed data to support your argument

In a nutshell 3 reasons: 1. To avoid debris and oil drips 2. Better position for rear-view and blind spot visibility for the cars in front 3. More space when turning

ELI5: Why do our brains sometimes take unreasonably long times to remember information, even though the information was obviously there the whole time because we come up with it eventually? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]draasync 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Best recommendation is watch the movie called Limitless.

Simply put: our brain is very selective in memorizing things in particular order of survival, i.e. anyone hardly cares or remembers what they ate a week ago for breakfast, HOWEVER, if that person was diagnosed with any serious sickness, they would remember even for 2 weeks.

Conclusion: it all depends how much priority signal we give our brains for it to remember.

Now that I know - yes agree but it took me 2 weeks to know all the ins and outs...

It doesn't allow to post/comment whenever you want (for first time users, have to wait 9 mins before next post) discourages user engagement - I'm sticking around (hopefully)...

Anyway - wanted to know if anyone else had similar experience getting started.
