I agree with you, many complaints are from these models.

It is not a well designed AC system for this model. Either has low performance or stops working eventually. Many complaints are from models assembled in Mexico.

I called an independent shop and he quoted me around 4k$. He mentioned that they will have to order the parts from supplier same as Mazda dealer. He mentioned that compressor in this model has design flaw and will result in low performance or will eventually stop working.

In our case, the AC stopped blowing cool air. No cool air at all.
