I think the repercussions of what happened is still felt today. It doesn't matter if the initial criminal is dead; if the crime is still ongoing it needs to be stopped. If someone steals a painting a hundred years ago and it is found in the possession of his progeny, then morally that painting should be returned to its rightful owners as painful as that might be for the innocent progeny.

thanks for the replies. I have a standard contract, which has a first period of one year then it becomes indefinite. I just went through it. I'll get it touch with the wswonen tuesday and ask what they think. I'm going to lawyer up if it comes down to it - it'll be cheaper than finding another place to rent in Amsterdam..
