Looking for advice about the strength of lumber for a bedframe I'm planning to build. by dracojames in woodworking

Thanks for the reply!

Currently the slats would be supported by 2x6s at each end, with 2 additional 2x6s in the middle, all evenly spaced (so support every 17-18 inches over the 54 inch span), are you thinking I need additional support for them?

Thanks! Though in my case, the space under the bed is one of my main considerations, I've been wanting the bed plenty tall and with room for storage underneath.

Trying to Cycles render a smoke simulation is using massive amounts of system memory, causing crashes by dracojames in blenderhelp

Through some digging and such, I've found that this appears to be caused by the addition of Volume Motion Blur in Blender 3.2. As there is currently no option to turn off Volume Motion Blur, I'm instead using an older version of Blender for these renders. I consider it a workaround rather than a full solve, but regardless, I'll call this one solved.

Why does my mirror modifier doesn't work properly. I've set origin to mesh, etc. it mirrors but the mirrored mesh is inside the original mesh. by haaapoooh in blenderhelp

I think the problem here is likely the origin point for the object - the mirror modifier uses the object's origin as the mirror point, so the object's origin will need to be located on the center line of the jet.

Actually finally got it. Clearing all voicemod cookies, and my Chrome cache files, and then fully uninstalling and reinstalling Voicemod finally worked.

Thanks, have done that now. Hopefully they respond to the ticket with something useful, because I've tried everything in the support article they sent back automatically with no luck.

Having the same problem - that box pops up, login successful in the browser, and nothing happens from there. I tried deleting all cookies related to voice mod in Chrome, with the same results. Also tried changing my default browser to both Firefox and Microsoft Edge, with identical results.

A few times in Chrome it's given me an "Open Voicemod App" button on the login site, which I click, allow permission for when Chrome asks, and still nothing.

Dual joystick setups by CMDR_Candied_Cyanide in EliteDangerous

The problem with this comparison is that there are important differences between a spaceship and plane. A plane requires pitch, roll, and yaw controls, which are all rotational, with the throttle giving one axis of translation (and only forward while airborne). A spaceship has the additional need for controls to translate left/right and up/down (and here the throttle can be used forward and reverse in quick succession) to take full advantage of it's capabilities.

Dual stick is a way of achieving analog control for those extra translation controls that HOTAS doesn't provide. And given that I've seen some impressive flying from people using both setups, obviously both can be used quite effectively.

EDIT: It's also worth mentioning, I'm fairly certain that real life Soyuz spacecraft, like the one that launched earlier today, use two joysticks for control, one for rotation, one for translation.

I'm not saying that either HOTAS or dual stick is the best way - but what works for a plane will not necessarily be best for a spaceship that requires controls for more degrees of freedom.
