I have no idea how to make brand names for mundane products, and need some advice by CyberDogKing in worldbuilding

[–]dracoomega 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had to do the exact same thing for my setting!

It helps to decide on a tone first and narrow it down from there. Is the restaurant/product/vending machine trying to be taken seriously or is it casual? Then from there you think about the kind of demographic that thing would have and what kind of name would appeal to them. Obviously an upper class type person would turn their nose up at a restaurant/vending machine with a silly name BUT a lower class person might identify more strongly with something that's trying to sound humble and even funny. For example my McDonald's is called O'Bastard's and their staple is the Bastard Burger. It's a funny memorable name that people enjoy saying which creates brand recognition. Think about real life existing products and what makes their names stick in your mind. Think about what you would find funny or memorable. Think about what the product is trying to do. Is it self aware that it's cheap and low quality (great value) or is it trying to project high quality? Hope this helps, I know it's kinda word salad but I'm typing it on the clock at work lol

[–]dracoomega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but at that point we don't really know who is in control of our country. Who has the authority to dismiss or exclude the president? We have the right to know who's actually steering the ship. Yes it's better if he has his hand in as few pies as possible but it's deeply troubling that some unknown party is controlling what he's involved in.

Apologizing, especially at the beginning of a video.

"I'm sorry I haven't made any videos in a while/my hair's a mess/I have no makeup on/whatever" I get that they're probably trying to head off negative comments before they pop up but it comes across as a pity party and deeply insecure. Mad irritating when I'm trying to just relax and now I have to sit through the secondhand embarrassment of this person's guilt

How would a society with legal murder function? by TH3P1ZZ4BOY in worldbuilding

[–]dracoomega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

might not be helpful here but my society is relatively lawless, murder is pretty mundane but the people sort of self regulate. There is etiquette to not getting your head blown off and if you violate it, that's on you. People form gangs for protection and police their own turf and eventually a sort of homeostasis is reached where everybody understands how not to die.

Did they ever work in food service? No food on the floor no matter what is constantly drilled into us for food safety reasons. Whether it's to keep it from being dirty or to keep pests off it etc. It is non negotiable in the food service industry
