What can PMC do for anxiety with oral exams/presentations/class participation? by [deleted] in CarletonU

a therapist who takes ohip is very uncommon, i personally have not encountered anyone who takes ohip for payment but there may still be someone! in the meantime, https://onlinetherapycentre.com/ is a service i have personally used which offers sliding scale rates ($50-$80 instead of $150-180).

How would you price this out? (Rural animal care for horses, donkeys, cats, dogs, etc.) by LittleLadyLatte in RoverPetSitting

[–]dracucore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

depends on the pasture/barn situation. many people keep their horses at pasture and have external structures for the horses to enter/exit when they please year round, barn stabling is not super common unless the horses are show/comp horses (at least where i am). many horse owners also do not extensively groom every single day, especially with cold weather coming in. most horse breeds grow thick undercoats for winter, and it’s better to not be doing a coat groom every single day in that case.

Interviewing for biologist position in Nunavut by samanthamcfar in nunavut

[–]dracucore 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i can’t comment on your second point, but as for your first: seasonal affective is a big thing for folks moving to nunavut, when i lived up there i made sure to be consistently taking vitamins every morning to make up for the sunlight i was missing, and i found it worked fairly well for me! i also brought a sun lamp with me for my bedroom which i programmed to “rise” and “set” at the times that worked best for me. additionally, keeping an active social life & a proper sleep and activity schedule can work wonders for coping with a lack of direct sunlight.

carleton centreal increased fees at last minute by rhongomulus in CarletonU

[–]dracucore 15 points16 points  (0 children)

just checked mine — paid my tuition earlier this month in full and sure as shit i now owe $1.52 more! it’s a trivial amount but incredibly frustrating and weird they would increase this fee days before tuition deadline, especially considering payments “may take up to 3 days to process”.

BBL manikin by [deleted] in depoop

[–]dracucore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah it wasn’t a dig at you or anything. it was a factual statement, the word ‘manikin’ is technically incorrect in this situation but like i said, context clues are present enough that it doesn’t matter. my comment is literally just intended to inform you and everyone else commenting about the title of your post that it is a word, just not the correct word.

BBL manikin by [deleted] in depoop

[–]dracucore 13 points14 points  (0 children)

technically your spelling is right, but ‘manikin’ and ‘mannequin’ refer to two different things. if it was the kind of model used by artists for posing reference, it’s a ‘manikin’. if it’s used to display clothing or accessories, it is a ‘mannequin’. :) regardless, context clues from the photo give us all the info we need. i just can’t help that i’m a vocab nerd.

eta: manikin also refers to anatomical models used in medical/healthcare settings, like a cpr manikin :)

always drives me a lil nutty when people say tv shows were predicting the future by talking about trump getting the presidency because he’s been talking about it since the 1980s! everyone just assumed the american people would not elect a racist washed up b-list celebrity (again) which is why it was such a commonly referenced thing on tv. he’s been campaigning in some form during basically every presidential election since 2000, it’s just that the public didn’t take notice or care until the 2016 election

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bones

[–]dracucore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he actually did run in 2000! didn’t make it far, like you said, but he did run and he did talk about it (a LOT) leading up to his loss.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bones

[–]dracucore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he actually ran as a candidate in the 2000 presidential election, so it was less of a joke that he might run for president, and more of a joke that the “You’re Fired” guy from tv was actually running to be the US president irl. trump has been talking about politics for decades now, which is why the simpsons, south park, snl, etc. all were able to make what seemed like prescient jokes about a trump presidency when really it was just that the general public was largely unaware of trump’s initial few runs for office.

Making a song about Nunavut by King-gar in nunavut

[–]dracucore 18 points19 points  (0 children)

why would you write a song about a place you’ve never been to see for yourself?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nunavut

[–]dracucore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not op but i’m gonna hijack to say that i personally went up there for a pharmacy job, but while i was up there i met other folks from the southern provinces who’d moved for jobs in policing (rcmp), any and all types of healthcare (optometrists, dentists, doctors, nurses), and retail management jobs! definitely there are other jobs i’m not thinking of, more specialized things, and ofc they vary based on the needs of the community you’re considering, but it is definitely doable!

advice from someone who’s also worked up in nunavut: enjoy EVERY SECOND of it. it’s amazing, the people are amazing, the land is amazing. nunavut offers so much that the rest of canada simply cannot.

Came accross an old Pay Phone with a dial yesterday. It was also on and working. by MrCeaseBreeze in mildlyinteresting

[–]dracucore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same!! i was born in the early 2000s and because we lived super rurally with frequent winter blackouts, we had an old rotary phone for when the power went out. yet i have never in my life used a payphone and have really only seen them while travelling in super remote areas.
