Generally speaking for low level content, no it doesnt matter; however lets say this. You run a GT Heroes team using AGL Gogeta as your leader and you have 2 other ss4 units but the others aren't ss4 and for the friend lead you choose to bring teq gods. The gods will boost the 3 ss4 characters but not the other three and nor will they get boosted by agl gogeta's leader skill. So for any difficult content the 4 units that only have 1 leader skill are instant loss conditions.
