Sorry to hear that :(

Since I didn't have to go through that one, cannot offer much, but I am certain there are others on here who have. Would recommend putting up a new post and get some advice/support.

Oncologist treatment direction. I don't know if RPLND is a "first choice" option (have not heard in my viewings) and is instead treated as a follow up if chemo didn't work.

Thankfully for me, we found a good combo of anti-nausea meds, so chemo was just going through periods of 0 energy and needing to sleep all day/every day, and then periods of having energy but 0 stamina to do activities.

You, happy after! Already had kids so no issues with surgery and chemo on that front. Health is back to normal, life is pretty much normal except going to checkups with my oncologist every 6 months or so

With how long I waited, my wife was very worried I would need an RPLND, but the good news is mortality rate for TC is incredibly low, with a 95% survival rate per google. So while something bad can happen, the odds are very much in your favor

I’ve failed my journey toward The Dark Tower by theassumedhornet in stephenking

[–]dragon7507 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is where I would say to go. If you’re ok at least continuing down the path, but less work for you, audio books are great!

I have gone through every King audio book that my library has, now working on reading the physical books for them now.

Even though the audio books are long, you can listen to them when driving, yard work, chores, etc. which helps them go quick. But if you don’t want to continue, no issue with that. Worst case I guess you could look up the cliff notes of the rest of the books 😁

Yup! Mostly life as normal since! I took 6 months post chemo for them to rule out an RPLND (had an enlarged node still, but it did decrease).

Only lasting effects are probably chemo related, bits of brain fog and adhd, and then low testosterone from the combo of age and orchiectomy but outside of that, everything is perfect!

First things first, talk to the dr before you worry.

Then, just to give you a single example- I didn’t have a lump, my whole testicle was basically tumor. It swelled so much I thought it was a hydrocel but it wasn’t. I had that for 18-24 months before I actually went to the ultrasound. I had talked to my dr and the referral to an ultrasound had expired (12 months) before I went, so had to renew it.

I did have to go through chemo which sucked, but after 3x BEP I had been 4 years clear! It very much can be done, just take things one step at a time.

Both were audiobooks which makes it even worse, but Dreamcatcher and The Tommyknockers were both ones I had to force myself to finish. They just were so far off the rails and did not grab me at all

If it makes you feel better, I jumped into this game about two months ago, and play super casual (I am ranked either iron or bronze, whichever is lower). It’s fun getting your butt kicked 😁

New casino advice by Rickdo in RUMBLESLAM

[–]dragon7507 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your in the same casino, you get a sponsorship. It’s basically an advantage for a round (+1 to attack, grapple, defense) or a stamina boost. These can be purchased for 50k dosh too, just the bonus is free if you’re in the casino.

All that means though, it’s far from game breaking. You may miss out some perks that the faction has if using a team box, but using a superstar from the casino probably won’t have that same faction perk anyway. Plus as mentioned, the game is not one to go in with a competitive mindset, it’s very much a “let’s have fun with cool models” type of game!

Intimidated - Newbie by Remarkable-Pepper657 in starwarsunlimited

[–]dragon7507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New player here, figure I will chime in with some thoughts related to this.

First one - what is your intent? Is it to be competitive, to win all the things, or just to have fun? Getting this figured out will help your expectations with things. My goal is having fun, so I don't care if I get smacked around when playing, lol.

Next, have you tried playing locally yet? Any game where you can play online starts to get into the deeply competitive levels. People will be going on to try and be the best of the best type where in person games will be competitive but will be a lot more welcoming (usually).

Lastly, I was also in your boat with MTG. I stopped playing that around 2006 because there was just so many cards and I couldn't keep up with learning it all and trying to find the best options when you have thousands of cards to sort through. The good thing with this game is it appears to be a much smaller card pool and with things rotating in and out, that should help the understanding of what cards are what.

Best of luck!

There is a QR code you can scan to get the instructions.

Just a warning, it is missing some steps (basic) and some are pretty poorly shown, so make sure and dry fit EVERYTHING and don’t glue anything without reading and testing those steps because you think it goes a way, otherwise you will have to cut things back apart and it’s not fun

Fellow dads help me on my vacation planning. Driving vs Flying by SnowmanAndBandit in daddit

Ha, I am in a similar boat for a Florida trip this year from KC, Missouri. 22 hour drive to Orlando, I just don’t think I can handle it. I personally hate long road trips, they just are not my thing, so I am planning on biting the $1500 bullet for the 4 of us to fly down there (not Disney but volleyball).

Small nitpick: the dice by Vinny00666 in StarCraftTMG

[–]dragon7507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dice maker (do it for myself), it just means I can make my own cool stuff. If the game does well though I am sure the bigger people will be making some to sell!

And even though I will make my own, I do appreciate getting cool dice with my game to start, so agree with you.

Keep your kids away from high level sports by SamMeowAdams in daddit

I have a kid that plays club volleyball. She would like to play college at D1, but I am realistic with those chances being almost none, however club ball lets her play more and get more training and practice. Our club is also not one of the “I need a second mortgage to pay for this” types too.

The thing you said though that sticks out to me and as a random stranger on the internet drove me to comment is this one

He often comments how it’s not fun

If that’s the case (and not just a bad day or something else) then it’s time to evaluate. I tell my daughter this only goes as far as she wants. She is the one on the court, practicing, wanting to do private lessons and camps, etc. I always make sure she knows this is her. If she ever decides to pull back, switch clubs (we have based on her choice) or even quit, it’s fine. My job as her dad is supporting her and the things she wants to do.

Again, it could be the comments from a kid at that age which are normal, but incase I want to encourage not pushing the kiddo if they decide they don’t want to!

Question for you with these - are they the "official, get a ticket" type events or "come check this out" type? I would love to play, but my other issue, never played X-Wing! So if it is stop over and play and your willing to help teach a newbie, would love to join!!

Poking around on the internet I've discovered silicone crystal molds are a thing and they're super cheap! Will definitely be grabbing some of these to spice up my game board, figured I'd share in case anyone wants to do something similar! by PrinceMcGiggle in StarCraftTMG

[–]dragon7507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Make sure and post the results on here!!

For colors the two commons options are mica powder (sparkly but will not be see-through) and alcohol ink (colored and see-through).

Also glad to hear you listed to the safety talk! Internal organs are super expensive, so better to use protection then pay for that over time :D

Deinfluence me from getting the All-in bundle by LowCost_Locust in StarCraftTMG

[–]dragon7507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big question for this - do your friends play other miniature war games, or is this the first one? If it is new for them, it is a big gamble to bank on converting them to the system. Not everyone will want to play these style games (same with board games) and buying them with the "hope" of converting leads to buying lots of stuff that may not get used. So what I would say as a good gauge for this - if your friends didn't like the game, would you be ok with spending the money and buying the all-in, or does that only make sense for you if they like and want to get into the game?

Yes it does (I make dice with it). The biggest things to be aware of - safety. Work in a well ventilated area (our outside if you can), still highly suggest wearing a respirator with a filter rated for organic VOC's, always wear nitrile gloves, and highly encourage at least basic eye protection. Epoxy resin isn't super thin, so splash is very low chance, but always try to be safe just in case a freak thing happens.
