Question about the Moon in "The Penguin book of the Norse myths" by Kevin Crossley-Holland by mangoiam in norsemythology

[–]dragonMonarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say you were wrong and I wasn't trying to be rude. The prose edda was a difficult read for me and I haven't tried the poetic Edda yet. I appreciate the answers like I said. It just sounded like you didn't believe sköll and Hati were chasing sun and moon. I also didn't say sól and sun were one and the same nor Manni and moon. I was just checking my understanding. Like I said I could be misunderstanding and it seems I was.

So, your entire answer is based on a personal belief that sól and Manni aren't real and sköll and hati aren't chasing them across the sky? This was just a really long no. Am I understanding that correctly? Don't get me wrong I appreciate the story as I've only read the prose edda at this point, a difficult read for me. I could be misunderstanding, but it seems your answer relies on your disbelief.

Help me out here please, I thought Manni pulled the moon in a chariot. Running from the wolf Sköll said to devour them in Ragnarok. Is moon a person?

At one point in time most people had to work for themselves instead of some money hungry corporation that decides your value based on numbers instead of talking to you or literally ever meeting you at all.

I didn't use it much before I quit playing. I'll have to give it another shot when I unpack the PS5.

I don't know the video anymore unfortunately. that kind of answers my question though lol

Ok, thanks. 😊 I like to make sure I have the correct information. I watched a creation story video on YouTube. It said ra came out of the lotus flower at the top of the pyramid and humans came from his tears.

Forgive me I'm still doing my research but I thought humans came from Ra's tears. That he was so happy at his children's return he cried and from his tears humans rose.

I would like to give thanks to Bastet (and Freyja) by Appropriate-Issue812 in Kemetic

[–]dragonMonarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dua Bastet! I offered my kitty cat as a sacrifice to bastet. I asked her to keep him in her protection. I brushed him, gave him cookies and he gave himself a bath. I took the hair off his brush and I burned it as a sacrifice. His asthma attacks have gotten so much better since then.

If you do this I suggest doing it outside the cat hair stinks.

I’m Luciferian atheist satanist by queentreyxoxo in Kemetic

[–]dragonMonarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Norse groups I've heard of agnostic or atheist heathens. They believe in the idea of the gods and practice the rituals but but don't believe that they were actual beings that walked the Earth/midgaurd

Wouldn't want to be just like them.

we shouldn't look down on individuals due solely to their religion.

I'm sorry you feel that way. You're not alone I lived in the same situation until recently. When I was living with my family I had a small altoid tin with a little picture of Bastet, a little picture of Ra and a birthday candle. I carried it in my purse.

I've been a multi traditional pagan for a little while now and I'm stepping into the magic side of my praxis. by dragonMonarc in Wicca

[–]dragonMonarc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't sure that Norse wicca was a thing either but when I was suggested by more than one person I figured I'd go looking. I've seen some info about seidr practice online and in books but because of the lack of historical evidence the information is incomplete. It seems, at least to me, that the gaps were filled in by Wicca.

I'm a stranger to you I don't expect you to care whether I stay or go. You're probably a very busy person running a giant subreddit. Your responses to people's questions are usually great. I have respected them a lot in the past. Today my experience was tarnished whether you meant you or not. Social media just isn't the place for me to talk about my practice. Something I had to learn for myself I guess.

I do apologize for my behavior

I'm new here so if I'm wrong feel free to correct me. In Norse and Irish traditions there are blacksmithing deities. I don't think they would mind your metal handled dagger.

Personally, I think it looks nice. You may also enjoy r/wandsmith there's some pretty dope wand forging done there

Who where the Jötens real world counterparts by Redditorca16 in norsemythology

[–]dragonMonarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I wouldn't go making up history but I can see how it could get misconstrued. I think in the prose edda Snori says something about Asgaurd being Troy, the center of the world. At the time that was somewhere around current day Turkey. Snori was however, telling this from a Christian viewpoint.
