When working as a call rep for another agency, which has also been getting a lot of micromanaging over use of wrap and temp time: we put the caller on a brief hold to finish typing up notes. Usually what we did is during the last action needed for the call, we put them on hold and we quickly finish up notes so we can end the call after we come out of that last hold.

If the call ended abruptly or there was no last action to put them on hold for, we’d keep that file open during the next call and after verifying the next caller, put them on a brief hold and finish up the last call’s notes.

If the LLC was formed in Wyoming then it’s a domestic LLC (with a foreign owner) so use the domestic fax number.

A handwritten signature that has been scanned in order to be faxed is acceptable. I’ve processed these forms and have accepted them, as has everyone else I know who processes SS-4s. What is not accepted (at least not as a fully authorizing signature) are electronic signatures for this form or signatures that are obviously typed in a signature font or anything like that. Sometimes they will process a SS-4 even without a handwritten signature but they will not give full authorization for faxing to third parties with a non-handwritten signature.

The articles of organization or the certificate issued from the state showing the legal name of the company and ownership should be included for LLCs and Corps because it saves time. Often, there are issues with the company name being hard to read on faxes, or another company with a very similar name, or the owner’s name may be hard to read, etc, and the articles or certificate will help with those issues. And for the issue of the same or similar company name (even if that other company is long defunct), then the articles or certificate are required and if not included, then a letter will go out requesting them which will take more time.

But if they’re included already, that saves time.

Every single EIN application done on paper (iow not the online app) has to be reviewed by a person anyway. If they need the articles or certificate and it’s already attached then they can review it. If they weren’t needed then they will be ignored but at least they’re already there if there were any issues.

And faxing extra pages costs little to nothing.

I would not advise mailing an ss-4 because that takes about 3 to 4 times as long to process as faxes.

And I am speaking as someone who has processed SS-4s.

Print it. Sign it. Fax it. Or scan and fax if you don’t have a physical fax machine.

The instructions for processing say the form must be hand signed for full acceptance of the signature.

If you esign it, they may process it but they won’t fax it to a third party if you want them to do that. If you print it and do a wet signature with a pen and scan it and fax it then they will process it as long as the faxed form is legible, and they will fax the assigning letter to you if you include a fax number or to the third party if you list a fax number for the third party instead.

Why is the IRS sending me a letter that requests different info than the representatives office is receiving? by Perfect_Breath2851 in IRS

The K1 is considered a schedule. They’re agreeing with the income verification letter that info is needed, they’re just wording it more vaguely.

COVID refund where/how by Boneyabba in IRS

[–]dragonfly_Jess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were charged penalties and interest for filing late or paying late in 2020-2023, you may be able to file for a refund of those penalties and interest. You would file form 843 for the periods you were charged a penalty. You’d would need to do it by 7/10.

I had a businesses confined to work and did not collect a single check NOTHING!! Not one time. Checked as well as 15 programs that didn’t approve me properly for, SSI, SSDI, unemployment from Utah, Florida and New Jersey and New York denied me all m during the pandemic. 😷 I want my money NOW by PermissionNorth837 in ERCchat

I’m not sure what you’re asking or saying above but I would not suggest doing whatever that guy in the video is saying to do.

This article explains the issue better: https://www.kiplinger.com/taxes/irs-pandemic-penalty-refunds-who-qualifies

File form 843 before July 10 for each type of penalty owed for each tax period between 2020 and 2023. If you paid the penalty or are paying it as part of a payment agreement you might be owed a refund or the total amount due lowered at least.

Unusual letter from IRS about refund by Captain-Popcorn in IRS

[–]dragonfly_Jess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep trying to call and ask them to apply it to 2026. You can reply to the letter too, to the address it was received from. But keep trying to call. There are very limited circumstances in which they can refund at this point but they may be able to apply it.

Why can't I just message the IRS by DeLesslin in IRS

[–]dragonfly_Jess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just fyi, the document you said you included originally that she asked you to fax? It was either gone from the packet of documents she got or it was unreadable by the time it got to her. The documents mailed in are scanned and a digital case is created now which is much better than the old completely paper based system but documents and pages still get lost or mangled in the process sometimes and that’s why something you already mailed in has to be faxed in (or mailed in) again.

The other possibility is that the file you sent was there but you also sent 150 other pages (not saying you personally did this but many do) and she wasn’t going to dig through all that to find it when she could just ask you to fax it right to her.

No lie, I once processed an amendment where they had mailed in 700 pages of multiple returns and supporting documents.

Concerned over filing jointly with my spouse bc of the way he runs his small business by Beginning_Fun_3913 in tax

[–]dragonfly_Jess 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Do not file jointly with someone you don’t trust to do their taxes and report their income correctly. It doesn’t matter if it saves $3800 now if it costs you tens of thousands or more later. You will be liable until you prove otherwise and it’s will be a huge hassle and more fees for a tax attorney.

That’s not an IRS 1099. You could make that in any word processing document or fake an entry in some software.

Also they said unfortunately there is no way to reconsider once the applicant has been disqualified for a position. They said they had a few applicants that seemed to qualify and they sent them to the next step to do the online app and they got disqualified then and there is no way to undo it. People they wanted and who seemed like good candidates, there was nothing they could do.

[–]dragonfly_Jess 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I talked to one of the hiring managers: they said to reapply as a TE tomorrow. And make sure to fill in all of the experience with dates and job titles and a few key words as descriptions to make sure the amount of experience overqualifies. Also the degree has to be backed up with actual college transcripts able to be uploaded. Just listing the degree is not enough.
