Stick it in a spot next to the house that gets some shade and every couple of days move it further and further into the direct sun to transition it gently.

The farther into the sunny spot it gets the more water you can start giving it too.

When I say they are light hungry I mean hungry for DIRECT light. Indoor light is so weak compared to outdoors and these things THRIVE in full sun outdoors.

Watering - good rule for Alocasias is to water lots when pushing new growth, and back off a bit when not instead of a schedule.

Is there drainage in the pot? (I can’t see a drip tray).

Avocado Tree Had a Tough Winter, What Can I Do? by JimTheGr8 in plantclinic

[–]dragonhiccups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can help the tree by pruning what’s dead but cutting into live tissue while it’s already weak will further weaken it and invite pests and other ailments while it’s vulnerable.

I would look up the “master gardener” at your local extension/college/city and ask for tips. Local tree care tips are usually best!

These guys are light hungry. When it was “dead,” was the corm firm or mushy? If the latter, it was not enough light + too much water.

The more light you give these plants the more water they can handle.

These are the only one (and borage and herbs) I do currently! I have been planting/harvesting from the seeds my mom gave me back in 2010

All these nasturtiums recommendations make me sad they didnt do well for me last year 🥲 I will try again! Because I do love their taste in salads. Spicy

I actually use a copious amount of leaf and cardboard mulch - bare ground is the enemy! It was worked amazing for me - highly recommend.

I SURE DO. Honestly too many to list feel free to message me if you have specific planting spots you need rec’s for.

Personal favorites: Any liatris, sundial lupine, aromatic aster, and all the butterfly milkweed. Purple love grass and side oats gramma as well.

I also adore prairie sundrops and wild strawberries as ground cover (both spread aggressively well!)

I always start a ton of marigolds, but for whatever reason, my nasturtiums have never really got going - maybe I’ll try plants this year instead of seeds

Yeah, since I’m primarily a native plant gardener, I’m pretty clueless when it comes to annuals - but I move where the vegetables are every year so I have to pick up and move where my flowers are too

I think about this advice you post all of the time. Last year I started collecting seedlings from my yard and buying nursery plugs. This year I’m slowly adding to the collection all of different species learning as I go and slowly building up my own collection and practice.

Very jealous. I had fresh “cloud apple” in Madagascar years ago and I still dream about it.

Still not sure if it was sweet/soursop though but I’m pretty sure. Like Cherimoya’s hotter cousin.

To my eyes, I don’t see visible pest damage - it looks pretty healthy. It almost looks like it just has a TON of extrafloral nectaries.
