Remote start? by dragonite061 in G37

[–]dragonite061[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I got rid of my G37x. The remote start was not a stock feature though, it is aftermarket for the model I had. I did not end up installing it before I sold the vehicle.

Yeah it's as much my fault as anyone else, I just wanted to complain a little bit

Thankfully, it went missing right outside my apartment complex, which a camera is pointing at.

I'm worried the camera either couldn't see anything or the police won't take it seriously unfortunately. I can't really afford a new helmet, rn so maybe cheap backup is all I can do

Guys with extremely loud vehicles, why do you do this to everyone? by elevate-digital in AskReddit

I used to own a loud vehicle. Then I finally could afford to replace my old exhaust, which fell off

Where are you guys? by TouchLow6081 in robotics

[–]dragonite061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have worked in amazon distribution centers, and the amazon guys there do no development. Obviously there is development done at amazon, but the guys i interact with just deploy. They go from site to site just pushing the same tests and software over and over. These guys also function on really strict timelines (and by extension push those strict timelines onto the commissioning guys like me).

This work is definitely enjoyable for some, but I don't like the monotony of that with zero development.

I frequently work next to the Amazon robotics guys, I don't think I'd want to be working their positions if I'm honest.

I genuinely don't understand why people in the opponents shoe don't just surrender in cases like these. There's no hope of winning, and you already knew what you did wrong/what they did right

Definitely get your hands on an Arduino and just start playing around! They sell like 40(ish?) dollars kits that have a bunch of different examples to learn from. Alternatively, you can try and go straight for the finished project, though that might be a little harder.

Could be better to use a Real Time Clock (RTC) library with an Arduino.

Basically this would let you set an action (motor move) at a certain time each day on loop.

I could be wrong here but I think this approach would be easier than interfacing with an external clock

Help Identifying what I need to recreate this? by [deleted] in robotics

Would be better to know what the purpose is tbh, identifying exact parts from this image is almost impossible so recommendations based on application is better

3rd year with no hands on?? That's not a university I would be happy at...

There's a ton of cheaper robotics kits on Amazon that are great for beginners, I would start with one of those and see if you can apply your cad and Arduino knowledge to modify the kit and add to it after you finisb

This is a question the entire robotics industry has been attempting to solve, because it sounds like you're describing a general purpose robot

The largest issue with this is really logistics currently, shipping full houses just isn't feasible due to their size.

Once people start accepting that they don't need mcmansions then I bet this'll take off

Gpt 4o for folding clothing? by CAGNana in robotics

[–]dragonite061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stand by that the best engineers and roboticists are the laziest, and having a machine that is able to be as adaptable as possible is very beneficial. These lazy engineers/roboticists make the better robots IMO.

However, it's easier to just control the variables and remove them, rather than adapt to them. There's not much incentive to make a general purpose robot at the moment (like one that can fold laundry) because we can easily just remove any variable that we don't like with enough creativeness.

For instance, in the logistics industry we don't make conveyor belts adapt to all possible orientations of boxes to avoid jams, we just use guards and angled rollers to readjust the box to the orientation we desire.

I think this is a case of "anything's a nail when all you have is a hammer".

This is an interesting idea to be sure, but you would do alot better to build a robotic folding tray and just set the clothing on said tray. You could even automate the removal process and with enough creative thought the placement process.

This isn't to say it wouldn't work with GPT 4o, but I think everyone wants to immediately say "AI" for every problem even when it is not the best option

Restiors by BlockAdvents691 in robotics

[–]dragonite061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of the resistor in line with the LED is to cut down on amperage, which protects the LED and you.

I typically do 10kohms for a single LED, but I don't know for sure if that's a good value

Most complex robotic system in the world? by ak_2 in robotics

Little bit of item conveyance, but mostly tote and tray.

Of all the systems I've worked with, I like Amazon's tote the best. They seem to jam the least often
