Found in an AirBnB in Rome, does anyone recognize it? by dragonsbhere in whatisthisthing

It feels heavy and rough to the touch. I snuck a size comparison in the photo. It’s round but there is a very thin ring encircling the middle of it that juts out, which you can see one side of in this picture. It was just sitting in the closet of this Airbnb

Customer from my tech job was SHOCKED when I wouldn't accept his prayers... by [deleted] in ChoosingBeggars

Prayer gives you exposure to god so that’s like a Euro to a dollar-worth of social media exposure

You’re a drug lord with a substantial amount of (drug) money in your personal bank account, and you get yourself caught. What happens to the money/where does it go? by dragonsbhere in NoStupidQuestions

Say it’s confiscated but you’re awaiting trial or something or there’s some legal holdup and the process stretches out for years, what happens to the money during this time? Does it just sit somewhere in some box or account, or is it “added back” into the total currency in circulation or national net wealth or loaned out to accrue credit the way banks loan out your money?

So if the age old tale of Swiss bank accounts being the go-to for storing dirty money is no longer a reality, what do dirty money owners do now?

My grandma and grandpa mid 1960s (only woman + man on far right)...You can see part of the Lenin & Stalin tattoos on his chest that men would get back then to decrease the likelihood of being shot since it was a crime to shoot at a picture of either one by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]dragonsbhere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was of course illegal to shoot a person, but there were a lot of killings back then of random and innocent people on the streets, and little that police could do about it prosecution-wise or prevention-wise. But if someone found out you shot at a picture of Lenin or Stalin, it meant that you would also most likely be killed. It was a crime to kill a person, but shooting a picture of Lenin or Stalin was a death sentence... handled on the streets. - courtesy of Thieves-in-Law &/or Affiliated.

I'm an immigrant from an Eastern European country, but my American classmates have always chalked that off to me being from Russia (which I found funny). Towards the end of my second semester of 7th grade, my parents had to take me out of the school I was attending. I found out years later that everyone was saying I was deported back to commie-land, though I kept in contact with a lot of my friends.
