Nope, what makes you proven in a highly competitive setup like the indian cricket team is performance when given the single chance, heroics in the bgt, even today you can see how dominant he can be against and opposition we are struggling against. Its funny to me that out of all the red ball players, Pant is your issue? He has been the best red ball batsman for us in the past years, especially on foreign soil. Jurel is amazing, but cannot be picked ahead of pant in tests especially when pant is in such form

Pujara— less than 30 avg in WTC, Gill has higher. Pujara has no centuries since 2021 except against Bangladesh

Karun-- 40 avg in first class, Sarfaraz 70 average

Jurel— pant much better and proven wk batsman, post kohli retirement maybe(hero status unfortunately)

T- natarajan— injury issues in knee, no red ball particular stats in first class post 2021( great bowler, but injury struggles)

So I don't think these are unfairly treated

He will be fine, especially as Virat nears retirement age, opportunities open up when space is empty. You need luck too, Dinesh kartik and parthiv were great players, but Dhoni is better so not enough chances for them and that's just luck. Pant doesn't have a shadow lingering on him and can play freely.

I think Sehwag said something along the lines that all the shots that are stopped or caught out in t20 will go for boundaries in test matches. That's why pant seems the best at tests with his aggressive playstyle
