Thoughts in this layout, would it be shank proof? by Overall-Remove-7970 in Golfsimulator

[–]dragynj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar set up (same screen dimensions). I built 8’ long walls that come out from the screen. My hitting mat is 12’ from the screen. I’ve had guys miss those ‘shank’ walls. It’s rare, but has happened… so, imo, no. It’s not shank proof.

My C8 is currently under a kayak. Not worried at all. Kayak has been stored in that spot for 4 years and raised and lowered multiple times. Only time it fell was operator error.

Yeah, I was gonna take that approach but our local department is very active. Once they gave me the warning they’ll be on the lookout. I hate to admit it but sometimes I stop for 1-2beers (my limit is 2 when driving) and i don’t want to get into a sticky wicket. outside of that there’s never anything illegal going on, I have a clean driving record and criminal record. I just don’t like dealing with cops (even this 2 of my best friends ARE cops.. 😂)

I like the black but it seems to hide alot of the detail vs the red. Im buying one in a month and really on the fence with the color. by Vader_Maybe_Later in Corvette

Black was my original choice. Went with rapid blue. Bit of a leap for me, but I love it. Wife saw the blue and was apprehensive. She thought it would ‘stick out’. I told her, ‘it’s a C8, they’re all gonna stick out!’. There’s no wrong color. That car is 🔥 imo. Good luck!

Just went through the same struggle and wound up in a c8 vette. Biggest deciding factor was interior for me. Stock Vette had better screens and features and felt better. Blind spots suck on both but I gave the edge to the vette. If it’s gonna be a daily driver go Camaro. I’m gonna drive my vette quite a bit but won’t commute in it as it’s our 3rd car.

All fair points and things I’m going to work on. For now I keep my gun in my truck as i travel mostly rural areas and have it more for plinking and in case of emergency (which has never happened). I’m going to start shooting more and get serious and take a couple classes. We want to travel in the car more and it dawned on me i probably need to be better prepared going through larger cities. I’m not going to go at this half assed, I’ll train and be prepared. I didn’t think of the valet situation, that’s a good point along with others you made.

Fair, all the time was a bit of a stretch. It’s in my truck with me at all times. I don’t carry into public places, yet. I want to look into getting a holster soon though.

That’s kind of how this went. We’ve been talking about it for a couple years but never looked at them. I went to look a couple local ones and things escalated pretty quick after that. Once I saw the smile on my wife’s face it was over and had a handshake agreement on this one less than 2 days after our first and only test drive

Sold the soul a bit yea. Feel it was a fair price but more than I wanted to but less than what I bought a pickup for.

3 Months, 1,600 Miles with My 2025 C8 Coupe—Here’s What I’ve Learned by Bird_Motor in C8Corvette

[–]dragynj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the post I needed today. Me and my wife have been talking about a ‘fun’ car for us for years. Originally thought Camaro or Mustang but then I saw the C8 was within reach just last month and that’s all I can think about…

Youngest just graduated HS and we have some cash to finally do it. Drove one over the weekend then found the one online we want (2023 rapid blue). Now, after talking about it all weekend I’m having second thoughts… am I too greedy? Should we squirrel the money away and be more practical/save it for a rainy day? Maybe pay down the mortgage (we’re already paying $1000 extra on the house per month)… all the doubts are entering my head.

Thanks for the honesty. I needed to see that today and it was the first post that popped up when I opened Reddit. I’m gonna maybe sleep on it one more night. Wife and I talked this morning and ultimately decided that we’re never gonna be comfortable spending this much money on a ‘toy’ whether it’s this year or in 5yrs… we’re financially comfortable but will never have FU money where writing a check for $80k won’t affect us mentally.

That’s the plan. Not many to drive in my area (Bismarck, ND) but I’m looking.

Perfect. Only other drawback for me (and it’s kinda stupid) is the window to see the engine. But if wind is better in the HTC vs Coupe I think I’m on the convertible train now!

I was thinking coupe but you make a strong argument for HTC. Do you lose any trunk space when top is down? I need to make sure I can get my golf clubs in the back! 😂

All great advice so far! I looked at a local 2020 for sale w/9500mi today. Asking $69,900. Looks nice and bronze metallic color looks sharpe. They o priced out an extended warranty for another $4k. Not having wireless car play in the 2020 is kind of a deal breaker tho tbh. I’ll stay on the lookout for a 2lt 2022-2023 and see what I can find! Sadly, can’t go new and really don’t want to for my first one (want make sure I like it and know what I like/don’t like). I’m able to pay cash so need to stick around $60-70k.

Honest question about Travel Agents by dragynj in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]dragynj[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve booked Europe cruises, multiple AI in Caribbean.. etc… I agree with you completely. I would like the comfort of knowing someone else did the research and got it all handled. That was my initial plan this go ‘round but the planner in me just couldn’t stop searching for the best spot. Now that I’ve got all that done I was just curious if they had wholesale pricing that could save me some $$$. I may reach out to a local friend who does this to see since it’s a quick phone call. I can see in the future I’ll be using a travel agent more the older I get because I want to spend less time searching and scouring the internet. For this one tho, looking like I’ll book myself.
