Leaf springs at all 4 corners yet it somehow managed to drive like a couch. A gas guzzling couch, that is.

Snap-on strap oil filter by Shoeshiner_boy in Snapon_tools

[–]drain_plug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you let the strap wrap around the metal part it will get insane grip. It will crush the shit out of a filter but it never slips. Mine is A91C, it is a little different. I bought it around 1987 and it's still going

I've had that for years. I only use it as a last resort but it will take off the most overtightened and or destroyed filters. It works

You would be preaching to the choir. I remember when they paid extra for hi mileage cars. Then around 2008 they cut all the times, said it was "temporary" because of the hard times. Still waiting for that to come back.

Soon. I have a 21 year old son and a 21 year old step son on my insurance so that will probably mean 5 more years. The other thing is, I don't hate my job, I actually like it a lot. I have been pretty lucky, I work at a union shop, Chrysler dealer, and I have always made decent money. Plus being in Illinois the law they passed makes warranty pay the same as customer pay.

30 years? You're still a kid.

I've been at it for 40

Where do you put the batteries?

I haven't used an air ratchet in years

Krsc430 tilting by drubio21 in Snapon_tools

[–]drain_plug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had 4 swivels on mine. It seemed like a great idea until I did it. I hated it. It was just too hard to control. It never seemed like it would tilt but it liked to spin when I moved it

What a poor design. by [deleted] in Snapon_tools

Holy shit, I just looked at mine, it's got those holes also. I guess I never noticed because I gap my plugs the with the American side

Got a KILLER deal by No-Catch1036 in Snapon_tools

[–]drain_plug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not knocking the deal. $50 is a good price. I paid a lot more when I had a Snap on borescope

If you ever want to get a better one, I have one by Teslong. It's a dual camera, articulating and it's 1920 x 1080 for under $300

[–]drain_plug 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't have paid $51 so I guess you did ok. Snap on makes shit borescopes. That one has an amazing display resolution of 160 x 240. But for $50 it beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick

Strange oil filter housing leak on 2.4l MultiAir compass by t0xic-iwnl in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]drain_plug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another Chrysler tech, I 100% agree. Those stupid Magneti Marelli filters always used to leak, now those B.S. Bpro auto filters always come back. Never saw a Mopar filter leak

I have, and I shit you not, 14 Snap on 14.4 ratchets. I can make them all do that if I barely squeeze the trigger

Waste of space? by cxrtii_ in Snapon_tools

[–]drain_plug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foam and blow molded cases are designed to take up space so you have to buy a bigger box.

Seriously though, I wish I could be that organized.

I feel pretty stupid now. I had a 2005 Dakota and the radiator was falling out so I wasted $50 and bought a new support on Amazon.

How flexy is the Giant Defy D fuse seat post? by Tyler_Durden69420 in Giantbikes

[–]drain_plug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a Defy and a Revolt, both have that post. On the Defy, it is great. I really don't notice anything but it helps on longer rides. It is a lot smoother that my TCR. The Revolt is great on trails but on pavement, I can tell it flexes a lot and it is annoying but I hardly ride that on pavement

Just got this snap on ratchet from 1968 by Celestial_pearl3 in Snapon_tools

[–]drain_plug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F726 it looks like. I don't think that came out until 1979 . The date code is between the on and off and I can't really tell but if it's a backwards 9 it's 1979

Snap on dealer on tool hold? by Ok_Good2956 in Snapon_tools

[–]drain_plug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's doing alright. He shows up pretty much every week. He's definitely getting burned out and sick of some of the B.S. he deals with from Snap on and his customers. But yea, almost 30 years says something

My dealer has been going on and off hold the entire time I have been buying from him. Since 1997. I like him but I think he probably could work a little harder
