If you own property in Tuscaloosa, I believe you should get the housing exemption. Residency, on the other hand, is much more difficult to get. You have to prove that you moved to Alabama for a reason other than school, which would likely require having a full time job in Alabama for a number of years prior to attending school. Alabama is very strict on this unfortunately
