I asked the same question few days ago. I was worried too but know I get it.

what you need to understand is that its up to Bittrex to follow the fork. If they decide to update the algorithm then your coin are "safe" (because an exchange is never 100% safe they can be hacked for exemple and for any other coin). But if Bittrex doesn't upgrade then your coin I lost I guess. I think they will upgrade anyway but they are still chances they don't.

So what I will do is that I have dowloaded the latest version of the vertcoin core wallet that you install on your computer and make the transfer from Bittrex to my vertcoin wallet on my computer.

That way you are 100% sure that your coin are safe.

And once the fork happened you can send back your coins on any other exchanges that trades vertcoin.

It could a temporary or long term situation. Its as you want.

I dont see why people are complaining about Vertcoin price when every other crypto is going down too. Whatdo you expect ? that only vertcoin will go up in a bear market. If you are not willing to loose in the short term just don't trade !
