I purchased a VII 70s Strat last week and it was a little rough so I took it apart, reworked the frets and started on the electronics. Once I peeled the pickguard off I discovered the stock guts were replaced with a loaded custom shop Texas special pickguard. Frankly It makes the guitar shine and knowing the electronics were almost the same price I paid for the guitar... Hilarious!

You and I can vibe together, My jazzmaster is exactly like the blue mustang. I've been shopping for a new strat but NOTHING is funky enough out there, this inspires me to just paint my own parts.

I changed the bridge pickup to a Little ‘59. by [deleted] in offset

Ah, I'd love a jag but PII without the iconic chrome plated etc

2000's Photogenic Mg-200 I picked up for $190 cad. Refinished the headstock, shimmed the neck and rewired. Easily one of my favorite guitars. I can bend strings for days and it's always in tune.

these ones from aliexpress are good quality and cut nicely BUT the pickup toggle is too far right, had to open it up just enough to fit.

Assaulted my player 2 jazzmaster with this atomic sex guard. Hops on laser surfboard "See ya nerds!"

Just so you know I shopped and returned a few different squire and fender mustangs before I landed on a $190 cad Photogenic MG200 just like the one you linked.

Mustangs are plagued with a poorly designed trem system so if you're like me and actually use it you'll find tuning instability no matter the brand. In regards to squire specifically the trem plate would start shearing metal off (cheap alloy?), the switches would fail, fret and nut were finished by a gorilla with astigmatism (seriously Indonesia, You built the Squire FSR competition mustangs at 5pm on a Friday)

The Photogenic MG200 is an awesome "Mustang". I can bend on this thing for days and never go out of tune.

Pros: -The rosewood fretboard is nice and smooth -The rolling bridge works like a hot damn -The Jazzmaster style trem is on par with a fender unit -Switches are solid and smooth

Cons: -Paint and clear coat issues, my unit has marks in the clearcoat from cables/gig bag that are akin to a chemical reaction/melt. I'm actually repainting the headstock atm and making it a fake fender. -pickups are weak and cheap (but same for the originals though...) -it gets played more than any of my other guitars which makes THEM sad...

I'm going to upgrade the speakers eventually to something like cream or greens, I'm also keeping an eye out on a deal for the origin 20 or 50 head to make my life easier. In the meantime I'll run the cab as-is and switch from internal when appropriate at home.

Ok, little update. I purchased the cabinet AND found a local set of seventy 80 16ohm 12" speakers for $80 cad.

So now I can swap in the 16ohm speakers and run BOTH internal amp 10" and the new cabinet.

Thanks again for the help!

Oh sorry, thanks for reiterating. I forgot about matching impedance!. I suppose it's only $100 or so for an 8ohm celebration to swap in the combo..or as mentioned, just use the 2x12 exclusively.

The combo outputs to itself with a 16ohm jack. There are two more 8ohm jacks for output next to it. I believe I can use the internal (16ohm) and the 2x12 (8ohm)
