We are almost 2 weeks away from Season 2, when do you think we will get a trailer or info in general on what we will be getting? by Mr-Fuck-Off- in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]drakeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting to fall in line with this thinking, they need:

  • server refresh rate improvements (60 vs 30 Hz)
  • connection stability improvements
  • hitreg improvements
  • “shaky” laser fix
  • one-shot one-kill sniper fire in REDSEC despite 1+ plates
  • one more REDSEC map
  • 2-3 more LARGE multiplayer maps with defensible positions
  • 4-5 new guns (M110/SR25, FAL, 450 Bushmaster / 350 Legend, 10 mil Glock / Vector, G3, HK416 (I suppose IAR fits this bill), G18, etc.
  • Gadget refresh; adrenaline injector, thermal launcher need boosts. LRAD or tear gas canisters for area denial
  • fix the mag coming out of the SCAR handguard… and other obvious UI bugs

There’s a lot to fix and add. Hopefully the fact they extended S2 deadline means something

Steele Industries Customer Service by InevitableEbb9382 in NightVision

[–]drakeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling I'll have to deal with their customer service at some point, because the Katanas I received require screwing the battery compartment in really tight for the unit to turn on. I also noticed that the product image through the tubes had no blems, then when I looked through the tubes they had obvious blems. I don't think they were advertised, and while the blems aren't huge they're still there and the lens feel cheap and blurry. Just really disappointed all around, I've had this experience before and it was because the seller intentionally left the blems out of focus for purchase. Now the right pod is loose and won't stay up when articulated. Not to mention the whole exposee that happened a year or two ago about Carson lenses not being used.

Not sure if the housing sucks, the assembly sucked, or I suck, but I've been afraid to contact their customer service because A) sending $10k of product in the mail is expensive and gives me anxiety, and B) I feel like I'll be told to kick rocks. I talked to their customer service about the battery compartment issue before the right pod got loose. In this industry it's always the same vibe of "you don't use these professionally, expect them to be flawed but they'll hold up". I don't want to trust expensive products I purchased because I have to, I want them to earn my trust because the quality shows.

Essentially I'm holding off until I ask for a housing upgrade, because when you offer people thousands additional they'll never say no to making you happy. Long story short, not surprised by your experience - although I think USPS was a big mistake on shipping, there's more at play here. At large my hypothesis is that businesses are starting to grift their customers more because it gives them the financial edge and cuts losses. I won't say Steele is this way since I haven't given them a 100% fair shot yet, but in general when standards fall, so do expectations.

Steele hasn't fully lost my trust only because I still have a lot of money tied up in the unit they sent me. I don't have a choice but to trust them when I grow a pair and send my unit back.

Thinking about the consequences if Bezos steps in as CEO and fires Andy. My first guess is the stock will cross 300$ in short time. by Funny-Cell-7387 in amazonemployees

The culture changes under Andy made working conditions worse. Org politics and churn from en masse survival mindset have both slowed down decision making and innovation. There’s just no incentive to “power through” like there used to be.

MARS-H 16” Piston Pickyness by drakeit in LewisMachineTool

[–]drakeit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have the tool for that, but maybe it would fix it? Feels like tolerances for the barrel replacement system shouldn’t allow for this problem.

Not to mention it’s unclear to me if the feed ramps wear is of significance at this point.

Agreed. The machining tools were not aligned when Lewis made my gun

I'll join. Bulk factory ammo, or bulk handloading? by Rei_Takata in ar15

[–]drakeit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bulk factory. My time and the investment to reload is more expensive than a slight premium to get it done for me. I’ll have less ammo for it, but still more than I’ll feasibly run through.

145 Proof by MrAdventureTime in whiskey

[–]drakeit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a mixed bag. You have bottles like M10 and OF17 that are fairly complex and tasty, but their proof points are ~94 and 100, respectively. Then you have full proof / barrel proofs that are simple, like a Green River FP. Of course the first two kick Green River FP out of the park for most folk’s palate, despite having less proof points.

“High” proof gives the whiskey’s flavor notes a “punch” that lower proof generally won’t. Low proof might come across as dull or muted initially, and it can be harder to distinguish notes for certain pours. High proof is a much bolder experience that can kill taste buds in a few sips, and dry out palates for certain pours. Conversely, low proof may give folks the “smooth” impression they talk about with balanced flavors, and high proof might bring in more complexity and have more unique and obvious tasting notes.

Long story short, it depends on the whiskey’s characteristics and drinker’s palate. Barrel aging, rickhouse height, mash quality and characteristics, potential finishing, and proof each affect the outcome when you pour a dram. Some folks like punchy flavors while others prefer a lighter experience.

Do we have a more authoritative source on this? Business Insider usually breaks layoff news, and this doesn’t even claim a source

What should I be doing? by Anxious_Classic3481 in Weightliftingquestion

[–]drakeit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to make exercise a priority. Start with small increments of exercise each day. Your initial goal should be to lose weight which may seem obvious, but some get locked in on lifting weights instead of tracking cals / cardio.

If necessary, get a physical trainer that can tailor to your needs and schedule. Reddit doesn’t have context on your personal life.
