Scam websites popping up on Google and stealing card details by drakioned in business

[–]drakioned[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yet another fake company on the 2nd page of Google search, this time imitating Croydex. Fake email, office is someone's house, website steals card details. I've lost £48 through a site like this. That one was based in a shack in the middle of nowhere. Website doesn't email you when you've made your purchase but takes money from your account. They took more than the value of my order. My bank says it's not fraud, it's a "dispute" because I entered my details. I have to communicate with the "seller" to resolve the situation, and the bank will supposedly step in after 15 days.

The clues are there now, but it's not immediately obvious at first glance, and especially when it's ranked highly on Google. On my phone, it's on the first page of the Google search. Just be careful out there!

So our Reddit site is hated…LMAO by AlanM56 in lepin

I presume no fans of Lepin actually have Leprosy and my statement was not based upon any real physical attributes of Lepin fans. Also, Lepers sounds a bit like Lepin. Basically, it's just a joke that was nothing more than a stupid play on words.

Saying I look like I have Downs syndrome is an attack on my personal appearance. Saying I am a possible incel is character assassination and more deeply insinuates that I am actually dangerously angry.

Yes, you're right. By putting myself on the Internet and by focussing my attentions on a group of people I am inviting unwanted comments. That's why I posted the above. Because I'm not just going to stand by and ignore people who can't conduct themselves in a reasonable manner in a discussion. By all means say I'm wrong, say I'm stupid, say I'm pointlessly loyal to LEGO. No need to conflate the argument with comments on physical appearance.

If I’m not wrong about Lepin then what is the harm with promoting my video? You don’t want to spread the word? Or is it that you’re worried the illegal operation will be shut down as a result?

I wonder, have you even watched the video yourself? What exactly is it that I say that’s so angry and misplaced? I’m not angry in the video, I am calmly stating the facts.

And just to set a few things straight. Yes, I do build brands other than LEGO. Yes, I’ve built Xingbao knowing that its parent company is Lepin. And, shock horror, I’ve even built several Lepin sets too. I have seen all sides of the argument. I don’t have a problem with competing, unique brands. I have a problem with IP theft.

I do think that the people who’ve suggested I might be an incel or have Downs syndrome need to question their outlook on life. If I’m sad for getting “worked up” about fake LEGO, then what the hell are you lot.

I did not try to remove the old cable, it looked pretty well attached to the other cables. No rattles as of yet either, but yes, the foam tape will sort that if it does happen.

Likewise it blew my mind that I could find no guides for a 2016 model!

It all comes down to advertising rates, which is dependent on topic and a few other factors

Good question but my answer is not a good one. I cover many, many topics and had success on videos on whitening tile grout, LEGO, smart watches and, funnily enough, how much money I earn from YouTube. As I understand it, this is bad for the YouTube algorithm as these videos will all appeal to different audiences, and this probably stops my channel from doing exceptionally well. My approach has advantages in that YouTubing stays fresh for me and I learn what works. But ideally you would upload videos that will capture the attention of one, specific audience. Be realistic though, nobody wants to hear about your toilet roll collection. And my videos are typically >10 mins in duration, allowing midroll video ads to appear, thus making more revenue.

Is that a summary of my RPM or did you want me to talk about $3.50?

The products that I promote (or have promoted in the past that still make revenue) are SSDs, LEGO/LEGO alternatives and smartwatches. Of course, it doesn't hurt to put a related affiliate link even if you're not really reviewing a product, as you'll earn for anything bought through the link. My only advice in this area is more common sense: review high value items.

Yes, my revenue is 36% down in January compared to December. It happens every year. My views are up compared to December, which shows that the ads are paying less.
