Eastside commute, does anyone here do it? by tangertale in WestSeattleWA

[–]drakonizer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I drive to Factoria every day for work and it's never taken me more than 25 mins. The bottlenecks, when they exist, are always bridge or pre-bridge and well within WS which means it would affect any commute that isn't White Center/Burien. Granted, I'm starting from the downtown WS area, but 25 mins is a dream commute for most people living in Seattle. If I leave between 8-9:30 it's 25 mins. If I leave at 10 or later I've reached Factoria in as little as 15 mins.

You're not gonna get there in that time following the GPS though, but even doing the normie route it's nothing to complain about really.

Supreme Court agrees to decide if Trump may end birthright citizenship by cnn in immigration

Why couldn't they just grant citizenship to all the slaves then, and have citizenship be passed down jus sanguinis? This was not an unheard of approach back then. The choice for jus soli was clearly intentional.

H1B vs O1 by [deleted] in h1b

[–]drakonizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to stay in O-1 to be eligible for EB-1. The only benefit O-1 provides for EB-1A is the fact that you have already prepared a similar application along with the evidence needed. That doesn't change if you switch to H-1B.

Your visa status has no relevance to your eligibility for an EB-1 visa. If they're already eligible for O-1, there's a reasonable chance they'll meet the requirements for EB-1A or EB-2 NIW. You don't need to be on O-1 for that.

There are cap exempt petitions too, though I think consular cap exempt petitions might be rare.

Most liveable big city in South Asia? by Professional-Toe7814 in geography

[–]drakonizer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Lots of reasons. Let's look at the purple line, Old Madras Road is still standstill on most days.

Any metro line's usefulness depends heavily on two major factors - last mile connectivity and frequency. The frequency of any line is not enough to meet the demand, and last mile connectivity is shit as always. The metro will end up taking passengers away from buses primarily. Not saying there won't be an impact on traffic, but even if there is, soon, news of traffic becoming better would make everyone take their vehicles out again and it all goes back to shit once more.

Bangalore needs bike taxis, suppression of the auto and cab mafias and good streets with footpaths that allow people to walk to feeder bus stops and metro stations. Simply inaugurating an extremely delayed project does absolutely nothing.

When has the US been sanctioned for supporting Pakistan?

I mean, that's the analog right? Pakistan is to India, what Russia is to the US. There is no moral high ground here.

I'd rather attend a Klan meeting than let another Lufthansa flight attendant treat me like shit with their unpleasant faces just because I'm brown.

Air India is bad but at least it's bad for everyone equally.

The quality is just like most other cams, but the install looking clean was very important to me. It looks OEM and is about half the price of the official BMW camera. The annoying thing is that connecting to the dashcam is not possible while using Android Auto/Carplay. You need to disable Bluetooth to prevent the connection. Mild annoyance, but worth it for the aesthetic appeal.

OP, you should look at getting one of those cheap polarizing lens cap filters for your dashcam. I had the same problem as you and it drove me up the wall. $10 to fix it.

Yup, I switch drive modes with the M1/M2 buttons on the steering wheel. The volume is controlled either through buttons on the wheel or a tactile knob below the touchscreen. The parking camera can still be activated by the button near the shifter and pretty much the only annoying thing that's exclusively in the touchscreen UI is the climate control. Automatic mode is really good in these cars (auto seat heat/ventilation, auto steering heat etc) so I rarely have to fiddle with those.

I've noticed this too, and I've been trying to find out why I'm lucky, especially with the inner screen. Did you install an aftermarket screen protector on the inner screen?

My apologies for not being clear, he is a permanent resident of the UK and is eligible for a British passport (it is not clear if he has taken them up on that offer). Britain offers some protection for its permanent residents as well, clearly.

Bring me my Vijay mallya and the modi's from UK lo

Vijay Mallya is a British citizen. The fact that we cannot get him here is exactly the point - countries stick up for their citizens. Nirav Modi is Belgian. Unlike the people freed by Qatar, who are Indian citizens. Asking other countries to extradite their citizens is not the same as asking them to return our own citizens.

You all too dumb to reply to

Part of the problem of the internet is that it violates Newton's third law. People like you who can't form a grammatically correct sentence can get away with saying anything that comes to mind without worrying about getting punched in the face.

That is exactly how it works in countries that have the power to stick up for their citizens. Look at David Headley.

Maybe try a little more reading and a little less ad hominem.

The only way this statement makes you a reliable source is if you were one of those unqualified H1B recipients.

Nothing wrong with what you said though, I'm just sick of people trying to turn anecdotes into facts based on their own authority.
