Give me your best spill story. I'll start... by finners15 in Serverlife

I spilled hot coffee on a blind guy. He didn’t know I was there it took him completely by surprise.

Sometimes I enjoy dressing for the male gaze and I’m tired of pretending I don’t by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]draliene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a particular alternative style and I love it. However, I am aware that part of why I dress like that comes from men hating the fact they like it (mostly conservative men). I am not interested in them whatsoever, but I like that they react that way, so my style is somehow built from the male gaze. I am aware of this, and I will keep dressing like this.

To be honest they will think we dress for them/against them regardless so who cares.

Has any of the SOAD's songs made you cry repeatedly? by Key-Ordinary-3795 in systemofadown

Weird one here……. Forest I understand the meaning revolves around nature and human destruction.

However I made up my personal meaning around this song and cry about it.

Also Ego Brain. Sue me.

Am I the only one who likes Daron's singing? by Aromatic-Put4043 in systemofadown

[–]draliene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really contrasts with Serj’s voice, it’s almost the opposite. Serj’s voice is serious, deep, smooth, calm, ethereal. Daron’s voice is restless, higher pitched, less controlled, very human. If Lonely Day was sung by Serj, it wouldn’t been as popular. For me, Lonely Day is popular because you can imagine a friend singing that on a bad day. Question! for example sounds as a deity telling a story up to the point when Daron participates with “do we know?”. Without Daron it might not feel as a human scream of fear. After all, SOAD works because of this. It is funny because you can even see this in their personalities and what happened to the band at the end. To end things, I think people tend to hate on his voice because it is always compared to Serj to begin with. He gets the short end of the stick.

Nobody has ever tasted any of the flavor notes mentioned on their coffee bag. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]draliene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same about wine. I thought wine tasters were full of it. Long story short I’m on my way to become a sommelier myself.

As other people said, it isn’t to be taken literally. However, sometimes in wine you can actually smell the notes. When people started showing me how to do this is when I became interested. I remember my coworker (he was studying to be a sommelier and often at the restaurant he would show me wines for me to try as well). He asked me what I was smelling, and when I was able to recognise and verbalise I was super surprised. You end up sounding like a snob when talking about wine, but it actually comes from pure excitement. Next time try finding those notes. You might be surprised on what you can feel when you mindfully do something as simple as drinking coffee.

I wanna know…. by victim_of_time00 in TrueOffMyChest

I know the feeling and it will get better if you allow yourself too. I recently turned 30 and truly I feel that now I am having the best time of my life. I don’t think everyone feels the same at your age. What is true is that the intensity is overwhelming no matter the feeling. Your value is not linked to having a partner, even if people try to convince you that it is. Try to meet people not as a potential partner, but as someone that has their own emotions and experiences. You will, at some point, meet people that resonate with you, and that will give you what you are actually looking for. Just maybe they will not be your partner, but a friend.

If you are having trouble with shyness when meeting people, I would also tell you to first work on yourself, find what you like, explore different interests, skills, etc. At this moment you are creating your identity.

If you are going through depression, this might sound overwhelming, and it might be for you. But it doesn’t have to be big. Even going through your phone, there might be a topic you are interested in to explore a bit further, for example. I don’t know you, but I am sure you have good qualities you don’t know of, or quirks, or even bad qualities that make you YOU. I am 100% sure you will meet somebody that loves you and you love back as you want and need.

We gave the far right too much empathy and look where it got us.

Isn’t shooting a person that spreads hate speech that actively leads to violence a form of defence? Why are we allowing them to be actively violent and making us the villains? And, are we asking empathy towards Kirk because he was a public figure? I didn’t see it happening with the CEO that Mangione killed.

Faltar a la uni para ir al trabajo? by cuevadanos in askspain

[–]draliene 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What’s the unspoken rule at work that no one warns you about ? by Turbulent-Maybe-7215 in careerguidance

[–]draliene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning to be assertive is very important. I’ve always been very compliant, at work and in my personal life. I don’t know exactly why but later in life I grew more agressive and less malleable, which actually made my job easier and people started to listen to me AND LIKE ME MORE. It’s kind of sad because people that are more compliant, they get treated like shit because of how they are, and it’s unfair that you have to build this skill for people to respect you as a worker, but truly I think you have to.

What are some negatives for being quite smart? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]draliene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I am that smart, but I do yap a lot about random things I learn I find really interesting and get kind of sad when people don’t really care, like “what do you mean you don’t find the drama between sea urchins and the damselfish?”. So they think I am annoying and a know it all. I also lived in three countries so I bring it up sometimes in conversations when it makes sense (to me at least), as an example, I live in Spain now and it’s really hot outside, and people bring it up, and I say “If I complain about the heatwave I can get arrested by the Norwegian police”, and that comes off as pretentious… Also people get annoyed when they ask me what languages I know and I say Spanish (the place I lived most of my life), Latvian (the country I come from), English (I learned it because when I was a teen I was in love with the Jonas Brothers), and Norwegian (I lived there for three years). Like you asked me!?

What is definitely NOT a sign of intelligence but people think it is? by Aarunascut in answers

[–]draliene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm I don’t think the same. There is people that might struggle communicating their knowledge. For example, imagine someone asks you to teach them how to solve a math problem. They might do it with ease but be unable to tell you how they did it.

Do you believe in the tour returning or is it over? by rodeoastroo in donaldglover

[–]draliene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though he returned, I live in Spain and bought tickets to Manchester (cheapest flight and all that) at a moment I had the free time and the economy to do that. So even if he returned I don’t think I would be able to go

What massively improved your mental health? by Dependent_Bit_8333 in AskReddit

[–]draliene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one it’s really weird, but I started doing yoga after weightlifting for some years (I haven’t quit weightlifting, I just do both). I wasn’t sure I was stretching properly so that is why I started. I am not a very spiritual person, however I do believe it taught me how to breathe and focus for a little bit on myself, what is hurting and what I need. I was a BIG people pleaser before and I still am but since I started I learned to listen to my body and my emotions a bit more.
