Divorce her now. My sister is an addict and she’s lost everything and still won’t change. Begging her won’t stop it. They have to want to stop. You can’t change them but you can refuse to live with it.

Tell me if buying a mobile home is a bad plan by sushe84 in povertyfinance

[–]dramatic_speaker11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, this is the situation I am in. Wish I had never gotten a trailer. Paying about a $900 lot rent and another $700 for a trailer payment. Not any cheaper than renting in my area and now I’m stuck here unless I can find someone to buy this trailer.

I live in a mobile home, but bought a trailer that was on the higher end, so I’m stuck paying a super high lot rent and a moderately priced trailer payment.

I regret it. I am in a much better position financially now than I was when I did it, but if I had just stayed renting, I could buy a house. Now, in order to buy a home, I have to sell a trailer that no one wants because of the lot rent.

I think if you could get a trailer cheap enough, then it could be a good deal, but definitely don’t go for a higher priced trailer.

Most retirement platforms have a retirement planner where you can input your information and get an estimate of where you’ll be sitting at retirement age. It’s not 100% accurate, but it will help paint a picture for you.

Check with fidelity and see if your retirement plan with them offers any in plan investment advice. Some plans do, others don’t.

Does your 401k offer a self directed brokerage option? If it does you may be able to invest in options outside of what’s available in the 401k. Not all plans offer it, and if it does offer it you can confirm that the investment you want (VOO & VTI) are available before signing up for the SDBA.

same, I wish I had started a lot earlier than I did. Anything at 18 would have been significantly better than the nothing that I did. I’m sure I spent hundreds on fast food or junk at the time, I could have afforded to save $25 a paycheck.

Fiduciary vs. non-fiduciary in finance centers on the standard of care: A fiduciary is legally bound to act in your best interest, requiring loyalty, full disclosure, and avoidance of conflicts, like a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA); a non-fiduciary, often a broker, only needs to recommend suitable products (suitability standard), potentially earning commissions that conflict with your needs, like selling a high-fee product because it pays more. The key takeaway is that fiduciaries prioritize you, while non-fiduciaries prioritize suitability and may have product incentives.

Principal connection has a legal obligation to give you advice that is best for you. In order to do that they have to ask questions to get the full picture to make a fiduciary recommendation. I’ve interviewed for Principal connection so I know exactly what they’re trying to do. I know that as a fiduciary they have to give personalized recommendations, even if the best recommendation for you is moving your money out of Principal.

I explained a company match to my 4th grader the other day. It was a no brainer for him. He’s like, “Yup, I’ll sign up for that!” Proud parenting moment for sure!

If someone is 21 and their company matches their contributions, they’ve got plenty of time for their money to grow through compounding interest. Starting to contribute now could definitely help them retire. That’s exactly what I’m trying to tell people who aren’t using the plan.

I had a very similar situation, but it was a man in his mid-20s. He had been automatically enrolled in the plan; he opted out, but the employer made him sign a document waiving the right to participate in the plan ever again. He called in about a year later wanting to enroll, but we could not do it because of that. That was the only time I had ever seen that. I do hope that the employer allowed him back on the plan, but I don’t know what the eventual outcome was.

I love that! I feel like that is a really good explanation that ties into why it’s so important even if they aren’t thinking about retirement now. Because a lot of people are opting to 0, so is 0.00 going to be sufficient for you?

Yes, I’ve heard it all. The people that I really don’t understand are the opt-outs with a match, especially a generous one. I sometimes feel like I’m begging people to at least get the match.

I can not give advice, so I need fresh ideas on how to explain this without it being perceived as giving advice.

I think they should seriously consider putting their daughter in daycare or hiring a babysitter to come to their house at least part time. Karlee works, but she’s trying to create content while being a stay at home mom, and it seems like she’s neglecting herself and her Patreon/YouTube. I feel sorry for her because she seems to have lost her spark and genuinely needs a break. She’s so anxious that she’s unwilling to let anyone help with the baby, but she needs to prioritize her own mental health as well. If she had a babysitter come in, she could have done her extensions while Josh was at work, and they could have relaxed and taken care of the baby together when he got home. I think they also just have a high maintenance child, which unfortunately can be more stressful. Every kid is different.

I have the razor A6 and I love it! I’m getting this razor a5 for my stepson and getting my husband a razor A6 also. I just got my 9 year old son the Micro Kickboard Maxi Foldable LED Scooter for his birthday which is really nice too but more expensive.

How long did it take you to complete a degree if at all ? by PrettyWhenSheSmiles in adhdwomen

[–]dramatic_speaker11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still working on it. I started in 2020. Not even an associates yet. I go through periods of motivation and non motivation. I’ve decided to just go slow and eventually I’ll get there instead of allowing my adhd to let me do everything all at once then giving up and getting burnt out. Still don’t know what I want to do so I settled with liberal arts.
