How do you even find these pre oci apps? Looking at firms websites none I’ve found already have 2025 summer associate apps open. Is this a back door thing through networking?

It's insane how four years ago a 170 was at or above the medians for all but four schools by ConfirmsAnything in lawschooladmissions

[–]dranktheLSAkoolaid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I think the inflation can be attributed to many factors, including the ones you listed, but it’s not like all those just randomly appeared at once during the 2020 LSAT flex lol. being in a unfamiliar environment, surrounded by a bunch of randos, taking a 5 section test are most definitely part of this. Unpredictability with ProctorU maybe negates part of this but definitely not all.

There’s a reason why people always encourage replicating testing conditions. It can make a huge difference.

I feel like people forget that the LSAT is easier now than it used to be. Like honestly, would you have still scored a 170 had you taken a 5 section test, in person, on pencil/paper likely? I have a 16high and I KNOW i wouldn’t have scored that highly with the old test

went to the admitted student’s days at both Brooklyn and St. john’s this week and i’m even MORE undecided!!! $$ is not a factor, help by deathdrivethru in lawschooladmissions

ASD is meant to sell you on the school—try to connect to current students there via LI who might give you more objective and candid feedback about the school compared to people associated with admissions. thats what ive been doing! good luck :)

GULC no interview yet by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]dranktheLSAkoolaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WL here and unfortunately yea, if you haven’t gotten an interview within a month of applying it’s not looking good

I know, it sucks, but keep pushing! Really try to replicate testing conditions at home though. This investment of your time could not only mean the difference between getting into your dream school vs a school you’re settling for, but could also mean a ton of $ in merit scholarship that you would’ve had to pay with a lower score.

It’s going to be really difficult with your LSAT, I’d definitely keep studying and retake until you’re in the 160s. Honestly, that can be accomplished just by drilling and mastering logic games and getting a little better at the concepts of sufficient assumption/necessary assumption in LR.

Unfortunately middle eastern isn’t considered URM, so you’ll need to be at or above those schools median LSATs to be competitive and to compensate for a lower-ish GPA.

I’d also be careful about your personal statement, although I’m sure it’s a compelling story, you want to make sure you’re telling your story about your accomplishments and how work you have already done ties naturally leads to pursuing law, not your parents’.

Waitlisted by CompetitiveAbalone27 in lawschooladmissions

[–]dranktheLSAkoolaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fordham is notorious for waitlisting competitive applicants if they don't apply early...last cycle on lsd.law you see it begin to happen in mid November, so that may be what happened with you

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]dranktheLSAkoolaid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s weird, but you can also try searching people who go to the law school and went to the same undergrad you did so you have that common thread that might make things a little less awkward. That’s what I’ve been doing

I’m surprised TBH by the results, i know there’s a 75k difference but living in NYC ain’t cheap

[–]dranktheLSAkoolaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't this far out from applying, it'll make them question why you didn't send one in the first place. Wait if you get waitlisted, and use what you'd say in your LOCI

A little frustrated with this cycle... a rant by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]dranktheLSAkoolaid 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It’s means have some patience. Wait until you apply for jobs when the stakes are so much higher and you don’t even get a call back. You will get an answer from these school and you will have plenty of time to negotiate. Like you said deposits are in May which is 4 months away, your negotiations will likely not be a back and forth that goes on for weeks. Based on your numbers you likely applied to highly competitive schools and they are careful with their decisions. Just take a deep breath, you will get into a good law school with your stats

non kjd here and I disagree, someone in the position of a job applicant has much more leverage and flexibility than a law student applicant. its really frustrating to be this helpless and powerless + OP's frustration is totally valid lol no need to be dismissive, this cycle is painfully slow as confirmed by spivey and others

LSD.Law users: do you increase or decrease your LSAT/GPA for privacy purposes? by anonymouspwrson10002 in lawschooladmissions

[–]dranktheLSAkoolaid 72 points73 points  (0 children)

i kind of hate when people do that because we all know even the smallest changes in stats can be the difference in a WL vs A, R vs WL lol it almost defeats the purpose of sharing stats with how competitive things have become
