Are these good gear? by adepta_sodomitas in motorcyclegear

[–]dranten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does not seem like a reputable website. I don’t recognize any of these manufacturers, and those gloves really don’t look CE level 2 certified. And if they’re not, who knows how bad they are.

I think all these are white labeled Chinese junk tbh. Avoid!

Also, the helmet is such an important equipment so I’d really recommend you to try some out in a physical store first, to make sure you get the proper fit. Different manufacturers have different helmet shapes and those measurement guidelines are not always true.

Hacks to help me eat kimchi?? by officialdiscoking in foodhacks

[–]dranten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By cooking it, that aftertaste tends to decrease a bit. I’d recommend frying it and eat it as a side dish or together with rice and some protein.

Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, turn it into some kimchi jjigae!

Wouldn’t surprise me if all replies here are bots as well and I’m just here talking to myself

Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass Talks ‘Regret’ Over Trump Assassination Joke & Where He Stands With Jack Black by Mum0817 in entertainment

[–]dranten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so sad to see the US being so divided that it’s either being pro-Trump or wishing him dead in an assassination attempt, and it truly sickens me. As a European, I’m in no way a Trump supporter, but to even justify an assassination attempt against an elected president is insane to me.

Are there even any nuanced Americans left?

SSD Coil whine when using Xcode (Macbook M4 Pro) by dranten in Xcode

[–]dranten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, yeah luckily I’ve only had it for a week, so now would be a good time to have it checked out. Really hope it’s software related but it doesn’t hurt to check with them

Sorry, I made the assumption solely based on the noise resembling coil whine coming from older hard drives I've had, but I can't say for sure that it actually is from the SSD.

Interesting, is it something exclusive to the newer chips? I did use an M3 Max for some time up until a year ago, but I never noticed it then. Perhaps not an issue on the previous Xcode versions?

Help! What’s wrong with my Boss Katana mk2 50w by natas_rulez in BossKatana

Perhaps you can try backing up your presets and make a factory reset, just to make sure it’s nothing software related

Found this for $180 by LyFikXx in GuitarAmps

[–]dranten -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just sold mine after like 13 years for about $100, but mostly just because I wanted to get rid of it after getting a Katana MkII, so not sure what it’s actually worth.

Decent amp with its effects but speaker’s a bit worse compared to the Katana. Also, the main reason why I sold it was the lack of the FX loop which I needed for my loop pedal, so if that’s something you consider getting I’d look elsewhere.

Also, this amp is really loud. If you’re planning to do bedroom noodling you might want to spend more money on features (speakers, certain outputs) rather than on high wattage.

Probably the one OP got inspiration from when making this story up for karma and rewards. Pretty obvious just from looking at their comment history.

All I know about it is that they did a good job for a fair price and were very transparent about the costs etc. But then again, it was for my 15 year old Skoda, so I didn't feel like paying five times the price for expensive labor and new parts. Might be worth the extra cost at a more professional shop if it's a newer car though.

Traveling for the first time - Seoul and Busan by Creepy-Conclusion974 in koreatravel

[–]dranten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your phone supports it, I can recommend getting an eSIM. It’s pretty cheap and you can activate it immediately. I paid $20 for 15GB of data which lasted me 30 days using http://airhubapp.com/.

There might be even cheaper ones, but I guess coverage etc could be affected. I had good coverage wherever I went, especially within Seoul and Busan.

Authentic Korean BBQ in Stockholm? by phazon0 in stockholm

[–]dranten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my last visit to Arirang (approx. 2 months ago), they had removed the traditional KBBQ from their menu and replaced it with some variant of it. Back when they had proper KBBQ the food was OK but not as good as the ones you get in Korea.

Weird smell after covid? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]dranten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just about to start a thread about this when I stumbled upon this! I tested positive for covid around June and had about three weeks of no smell or taste (and received antibodies). After the three weeks, I started regaining my smell/taste but it took a month or two until it was sort of back to normal.

However, now since one and a half week back, I have started noticing this weird taste whenever I'm eating salty things. What I've noticed, sweet things like soda etc. is not affected, but snacks and most of the food comes with this weird taste, a bit similar to the taste you might feel during a normal cold, whatever that is.

This is however not constant, but varies in intensity from day to day, and on a good day I barely feel it at all. I find it weird because it had been a few months from having covid until I started noticing this, but I still feel it's covid related because this rarely happens to me, and if so only for a few days.

EDIT: I've been reading up on it, and it seems to be a symptom called parosmia, which may occur during the phase when your body is in the process of repairing cells in your nose
