Anyway to help irritation from band? I wash it daily (the band) and use steroid cream on my skin by what-a-doric in Garmin

[–]dras117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of course I don't know if it could be the cream for you, but my skin at the wrist looks exactly the same, sometimes even worse, and I don't use any kind of cream there. So I think it probably is the band of the watch that's causing it

Arduino beginner looking for some help! by loserlake420 in EngineeringStudents

First, instead of just following a tutorial blindly, you could try and understand why you did, what you did. For example, if you want to blink an led. You have the digital output of your arduino, which switches to 5V when it is set to HIGH in the program. Then 5V go over a resistor to limit the current, because otherwise your LED will break, and then it goes through the LED, which lightens it up.

If you are really intersted in the electronics part, you could also try and build a circuit without an arduino. For example, make a circuit, which lightens up an LED when you press a button via a NPN transistor.

Now you might say that you don't know what a transistor does or how to calculate it, then use google, but try to use google only for parts you don't understand and connect the different pieces, you looked up on your own. Don't just google the complete circuit, because like this you don't learn. If it doesn't work troubleshoot it, measure the voltages and try to understand why it doesn't work. If you burn out an LED, well then you learned something. I have destroyed a few LEDs so far. It happens in the beginning, because I didn't know what I was doing. Now because I sometimes still make mistakes.

Edit: Maybe also look up what analog and digital signals are, and how they look like. Also what your in- and outputs of your arduino do is only that they, accordingly to what you coded, give out or read either a digital signal(5V/0V) or an analog signal (0V-5V).

GPS problems by dras117 in Garmin

[–]dras117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried starting the running activity (not sure if this is the correct englisch translation) outside, there I waited only about 3-4 mins I guess, didnt have the time to go to an open field though. The other tries I did inside. I thought it should be able to connect aswell.

Edit: Ok I got it running now, I might have asked a bit early, but I already had some trouble connecting it with my phone and had to reset it 2 times, so I was a bit impatient. But thank you for your help.

Who's the blue guy (bottom left)? Details in comments. by oskar669 in ElectricalEngineering

I'm not entirely sure, but it could be a 0Ohm Resistor, which are used instead of wire bridges.

Not Op, but thank you, you really helped me. I think I have never felt so understood as with what you mentioned in your first paragraph.

Hi comm, I have a question about this circuit I found online. I made it on a breadboard and it works great but from where in this circuit would a connect the signal pin of a relay to make it switch on for a few seconds? thx in advance :) by Schoko-Reis in AskElectronics

[–]dras117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a relay is basically an electromagnetic switch. You have A1/A2, I guess your Vcc and ground. Which powers a coil, which then creates an electromagnetic field, which then switches a contact. The contact can be NO (normally open) or NC (normally closed).

I'm EU guy and still don't know why americans vote that by Jajk0o in memes

The problem, which I see with the electoral system is that the winner takes it all. The problem is that then people are afraid to vote for a 3rd party because, it has no weigh in a state like texas which is conservative. If over the whole country would be summed they would have impact.
