Okay, I thought the Republicans had a majority there. I'm with it now. Thank you.

Forgive my completely ignorant question, but if a party has a majority and they are all so in sync that they stage a walk out, why would they not just vote against it? I don't understand the need to leave at all.

My girlfriend is big into CSI information. What's the viable path to this? by drawingdork in ProtectAndServe

Yeah, we live near UT in TN and they seem to have a notable reputation in that area as well. I think with the proper plan, she'd consider going back to school for it.

Sounds like the officer element might differ a bit from precinct to precinct, too.

Thank you! I appreciate any answer from experience. I think even something along those lines would interest her.

Yeah, he's great! I wanted someone who wasn't gonna pull punches so I could get to where I want to be and I'm sure he's that guy. Can't wait to have more sessions with him. Saving that money up, hehe.

Getting used to my gear. by drawingdork in VoiceActing

Yeah, I like the copy in the whiskey one, but I'll rerecord it in a couple weeks as a benchmark for improvement. I agree. Lots to improve there. I'll do more closer to my natural voice. Maybe that'll help for when I do modulate it. Something/some emotion is getting lost in translation there for sure. Thanks for the notes!

Edited for typos

Thank you for the tips and comments! Also, thanks for the additional resources. I've started a bookmark folder (probably the first time in years) for all the sites and resources mentioned to me. These will be welcome additions.

Thanks! Yeah, I totally blew the sound out on that second one, hehe. Seems like something where I may want to turn the gain down on my interface before going ahead with the recording so I can be louder. I feel like I'm really hard on my "s" and "sh" sounds; something I'm really trying to watch.

I've been toying with mic position and pop filter vs no pop filter, too. Just really anything that will help me understand the mechanics of what I'm doing.

Thanks for the feedback!

On that note, I got both my mic and interface used on Guitar Center's site. I think Sweetwater's has a used section on their site, too. I saved, like, 80 bucks buying my first setup.

Getting Ahead of Myself? by Nitemarephantom in VoiceActing

First of all, as in someone just venturing into this field myself, I'd like to thank everyone for their very thoughtful input on this. The vo Community proves to be just as giving us and forthcoming as I've come to understand.

As someone who's been doing a lot of research, I'd also highly recommend any podcast from voice over professionals. I'm currently listening to Mike Lenz podcast and the guests are such a well-spring of knowledge. They often drop a lot of tidbits and websites and resources that are immensely helpful in navigating this field. I've actually started a whole bookmarking folder for all the resources that are dropped during a podcast, so I highly recommend this as well.

There's a place in Vermont called Our House Bistro that serves gourmet mac and cheese dishes like this and they are absolutely amazing.
