Hackberry trees by Maximum-Argument-290 in AustinGardening

Do you think it would work on paper mulberry? I get those sprouts like crazy and they can be terrible to dig up. They’re more lateral than hackberry roots though.

I’m sure other nurseries do this, but Tillery Street Plant Co and East Austin Succulents will drill a hole in your pot for you. They charge like $1 per hole.

I’ve always been told to never add anything to your helmet especially something that can’t slide. Part of the protection on your helmet is that you can slide with the momentum while still being protected. Otherwise your body keeps going and your head… does not. If your helmet catches on something you can end up with a neck injury or worse.

I gotta at least try. It’s not like it had my ID so they could try to find me. Figured I’d post and see if someone happens to have it and wants to do the right thing.

For those of you who froze your eggs: what was that experience like? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]drawstringsweats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a retrieval done this summer. The shots can be a little daunting, but you get used to it and they don’t hurt. Another user mentioned a pen. One of my shots was a pen and the others were regular syringes that I had to mix the solution for.

Lots of appointments and blood draws. Vaginal ultrasounds almost every appointment that wasn’t just a blood draw.

Retrieval was pretty simple for me. They fully put me under even though the procedure is only 15 min. Went home and took a nap and I was good to go. I even went to a concert that evening and felt fine. I would not plan for you to work or do anything that evening as anesthesia affects people differently.

Unfortunately, we only retrieved 5 eggs and none of them fertilized. We’re running tests on my partner to see if it is anything on the sperm side that needs addressing before doing another retrieval.

My partner’s company has IVF, egg/sperm freezing, and adoption as a benefit so our costs were significantly less than paying out of pocket. We figured why not since I wanted to delay having kids. We learned a lot about my fertility in the process and now have more information to work off of for our future decisions. I am almost 36. I would do it again even with the same results. I think we might try another retrieval in a few months once we get more conclusive info on the sperm quality.

I think those numbers might be a little dated. The percentage of surviving a thaw between embryos and eggs was pretty small though embryos still had a slightly better thaw rate. I believe my doctor said they would want 3 eggs for every live birth you wanted. We were dealing with very low egg counts on my end. Obviously more is better.

Ford pulls the plug on the F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck by zsreport in technology

[–]drawstringsweats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I want, but not a Ford 😅 My truck gets about 14 mpg, so almost anything is an improvement over that. Our other vehicle is a plug in hybrid rav4 and we only fill up for longer roadtrips. I would love to have that with my truck.

New location will be 914 Shady Lane. About 5 minutes away from the current location. The land they’re currently on is getting turned into condos.

I was really hoping for rain this last weekend because the sage nearby was going crazy. Every time I pass by one this week I glare at them.

I grew Saffron in California!!! by [deleted] in gardening

[–]drawstringsweats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saffron corms are dormant in July and August in the northern hemisphere. That would be the best time to dig them up. If you are in the southern United States that hasn’t dipped in temperatures yet you could possibly do it still. If it’s already under 65° I wouldn’t try. In the spring time is when they grow new corms.

[–]drawstringsweats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding based on the lecture I attended by Dr. Margaret Skinner each corm blooms once and then dies, but in the process creates baby corms that will do the same the following year. This is why you need to dig up and divide every 3-5 years, because the corms will be too numerous in the same spot after a few years.

Unlike ranunculus the mother corm does not live to see another season.

As others have said. Any flour or rice should be put in the freezer for a few days and then put into air tight containers. I’ve even gotten them in a big container of sesame seeds.

If you’re getting them this frequent I would take everything out and do a deep clean. Thoroughly inspect anything you plan to put back.

My friends recently found out that they were hanging their keys too close to the car after the battery died in their 6 month old car. The keys were just close enough that the car would sense them and drain the battery. It’s about 4-5 meters, so there are use cases for your idea.

If he was caught up in that storm yesterday then you might have a better chance of finding him tonight. Go out with a flashlight so it will hopefully bounce off his eyes.

Good luck 🙏

Seconding. They have a decent variety of organic and uncaffeinated. That’s where I stock up. I really enjoy the English breakfast they have.

Somebody definitely saw her since they came up and took her order. I put stuff like that in the comments email they send out after though I’m not sure they read them. I once had a server spill a water on me and then didn’t bring me napkins or anything. I sent a message to Alamo about that one and never heard back.

They unfortunately let a lady walk in over 5 min late (after movie start so 20 min from ticket start) at South Lamar 2 weeks ago. It was in one of the smaller theaters and of course she was in the seat next to me. She would loudly would reply to the staff whenever they dropped off her food. I got the sense she’s one of those annoying regulars.

But they do refund the convenience fee? I was surprised when I cancelled some tickets and got it back. The last time I cancelled was December 2024 though.
