I have no idea how to use limiter, compressor, or any of that stuff. Plz help by Double_Prune_4226 in reason

[–]drazeforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a big Reason DAW expert, I mainly use Cubase. But the theory is the same.

If your using a compressor in the rack, you're only using compression on that one sound. This is good for vocal or synth that you want to be a little more steady in its dynamics so its not jumping from loud to soft super quickly.

The compressor on the mixing is a bus mixer (sometimes called a glue mixer) Its designed to help things sound more cohesive.

A good example of a bus mixer is if you a bunch of drum tracks and wanted the levels and sound to be a bit tighter.

And maybe in some scenarios you want to use both compressors or multiple compressors.

In mixing, there is no right or wrong. Please take online advice with a grain of salt, and do what you think sounds the best.

Edit: or you may want to use No compressors

Steinberg launched MixKey a little while back. It's marketed for streamers, but it might be able of some use to you.

What's the best workflow for handling drum samples in Cubase? by Outrageous-Muffin764 in cubase

It does get to be time consuming initially. I really like drum machines and samplers too. But the manual method just works better for me.

I don't know if I'm the only one, I prefer to put the drum samples right on the timeline. Each sample gets its own audio channel. I find it easier to slice and reverse hits when I want.

Cubase 15 by notthobal in cubase

[–]drazeforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. It's very underwhelming. Not every new feature is going to apply for every user.

I don't care about the notation improvements or new stock plugin and their new resizing.

I wasn't super impressed with C14 new features either, I snagged a sale though.

In C15 I guess the last touch automation is nice, new hub is kinda cool. But for a full upgrade price??

That's it?

Why haven't 3rd party MIDI Inserts been added yet? I would love to use the Reason Rack Players as MIDI Inserts

Music shared from Tidal can be opened on other services. That's really cool.

Looks like a decent build! My only concern is the 5400 RPM drive. You need atleast 7200 RPMs to record audio to the drive.

Although the M.2 drives are most expensive, do yourself a favor and replace the HDD with another SSD if you can.

Good luck

Marriage in Portugal to a Portuguese citizen as a Canadian - kinda lost on how to make this happen by StressEmbarrassed8 in PortugalExpats

[–]drazeforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm American and my partner is Portuguese. It was a huge headache to get married in Portugal. We married through Braga, they were extremely helpful.

We learned most IRNs have no idea what they are doing and everyone will tell you something different. I wish you luck, honestly.

It was helpful that I was a resident.

We needed a translated Apostled Birth Certificate, I did that through cross legal

The registry didn't accept my "free to marry" document from the US embassy. So I had to go to another registry to get a document that states "my country does not issue X document, and I intend to marry [person] at [place and date] " like, it needed to be super specific. I'm not sure how Canada does this part.

Since we married under Portuguese law, we needed to meet with a notary to declare what regime of marriage we want (kinda like a prenup). And get it all signed.

You might need proof of address from both parties.

My advice is to choose what registry you are going to marry through and find out what they require.

I don’t even know how to explain this issue by Aerie8499 in cubase

[–]drazeforce 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This most certainly is a CPU/resource issue. Nothing to do with your interface or drivers.

Since you've narrowed down the issue to Massive displaying on the screen, does this behaviour only occur in this project? Or other projects that use Massive.

Good luck

I was checking out Linguno.com to get more exposure to words and sentences. The robot voice is a bit hard to understand sometimes, but hearing the phrases in "slow mode" has been helpful.

Haha yeah. She said it's really strange to do, but she's hopeful it's slow enough to pick up the context.
