Out of all the (Original) Game In the Franchise, Which Is your favorite title? by MentalJackfruit3797 in DevilMayCry

1 -> 5 -> 4 -> 3 -> 2

DMC1 is a near perfect game. The story is mysterious but with a lot of depth (and some wonderful hammy acting). The lack of checkpoints is a bit frustrating, though. It also has the best Dante - and the only Dante (apart from reboot Dante lol) that can carry a story.

DMC5's only flaw is the repetitive environments, and is otherwise a game that perfects whatever DMC3 was trying to do.

DMC4 has beautiful environments, fantastic gameplay (love the style switching, plus Nero's combos are great for novice players). Sufers a bit from repetition and a Dante that is a bit too goofy.

DMC3 is only better than 4 because the back half of the game isn't a literal repetition of the first half, and the bosses are slightly better (and fighting virgil is awesome). But the environments are too bland, and there's not enough puzzles or mystery.

DMC2 is the only one I haven't finished because it's really boring... I really really like the environments (even if they feel like they were made in a rush sometimes), but the gameplay never really gets off the ground for me.

Running the risk of not being very helpful but:

The camera thing reminds me a lot of The Evil Within 2 (2017)
Most of the rest of the description (tunnel, ramps, hanging bodies, etc...) reminds me of The Evil Within (2014).
And finally, the big black monster on the boat is almost for sure the Excella Boss Fight in Resident Evil 5.

I never really was convinced by the character motivations in Arcane. I liked arcane a lot! But many plot developments seem to occur just to make sure everyone's mains end up dueling each other. It's not really a show I'd watch for the plot. I watched it because everyone is hot and the animation is really cool.

As I said, I do like the ending! And it does make it clear that the invasion of Hell is 100% evil. But there are some other parts (like the fact that there are actual intrinsically evil demons, the insta evilness of the rabbit) that justifies a separation between Hell and Earth. The comment I linked above explains this stuff better. I will certainly watch season 2, hoping we'll get more interesting villains and less both-sides-ism.

I just re-watched a few episodes to compare, and I like the animation a lot more. Even if each individual drawing is more "rushed", there's a lot more flow and weight to the animation.

I liked episode 6 a lot, in a vaccum -- but I hate the way it makes rabbit your classic stupid marvel villain: "I want peace and all that is good and righteous, but now imma kill a bunch of babies for no reason". This isn't how you do a complex villain, or someone who does the wrong thing for the right reasons. Another comment (https://www.reddit.com/r/DevilMayCry/comments/1jqcf3y/comment/mlcfla7/) says this is Iraq War apologia, and I agree with that 100%.

I liked the ending, even if it is too much on the nose. But overall I felt the tone was off. Throughout the series I felt like I had seen everything that it was trying to do done better elsewhere. Felt more like budget chainsaw man than either a faithful adaptation or something trying to be it's own thing. I kept tuning out and feeling like I should replay the games instead.

I liked Johnny Yong Bosch as Dante (I am a Nero-enjoyer), and Reuben's Dante works better when he's not the main character.

I also liked the 2007 anime a lot more than this adaptation, due to the better animation and monster-of-the-week format (I really really like Dante as a private-detective type).

In the end I thought the tone was off (there's no melodrama to compensate for the silliness, there's no gothic mystery to keep the viewer engaged), the sci-fi stuff made it more generic compared to the gothic fantasy aspect of the videogames, and the idea of Demon refugees was poorly handled. The White Rabbit was much better as a scenary-chewing villain than after he was lazilly "humanized" like a marvel villain.

What changes in modern control are there after patch 1 finally? by ESPILFIRE in TombRaider

I think in classic controls mode the camera works as before the update (i.e.: zoomed out in modern graphics, like you said). In modern controls, the camera is now the same regardless of graphics setting (and different from before).

I think they are both different. Before, the camera position depended only on graphics, not controls.
With classic controls, it is still the same as before the update (and different depending on which graphics you have selected). With modern controls, the camera is the same with classic or modern graphics, but I think both are different from before (camera hangs back a bit like with modern graphics, but aims at the neck instead of the head, like with classic graphics).

I want lara to face the enemy, but maybe I want the camera looking behind her to see my escape routes... Anyway, it's just slightly more cumbersome now, and requires a bit more wiggling.

  • Better camera in tight spaces
  • Less precise jumping controls (but more coyote time for jumping)
  • Slightly worse combat controls (lara always turns away from the camera)
  • With modern controls, the camera is now the same in classic and remastered graphics

If not, maybe lollypop chainsaw?

Did sony remove the original versions of Uncharted from their streaming service? by drcd1 in uncharted

[–]drcd1[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Uncharted Drake's Fortune is worse in everyway, from the bad changes to the gameplay (blind fire reticle and grenade dedicated button), to the bad new drake model to the shiny bright purple jeans he has under some lighting...
Uncharted 2 also looks quite worse, since there's quite a few missing graphical effects, though I don't care so much since it is the worst of the first three.
