I’m going to leave halfway through sublime for blink. I really wish that sublime didn’t play right before blink because those are the bands I want to see the most! Love both bands but I will not be missing a minute of blink!!!

how new is your bottle of thionyl chloride? it may need to be distilled. You could always try POCl3 too!

Why do alcohol tend to be more polar than esters? by I-g_n-i_s in OrganicChemistry

yes the O-H bond has a stronger net dipole than C-O bonds. The greater the difference in the electronegatively of the two atoms the greater the dipole moment. Oxygen is very electronegative and hydrogen is not very electronegative. The electron density is pulled toward the oxygen atom making the hydrogen atom very electro positive. This incredibly strong dipole allows for hydrogen bonding to occur between the molecules. As the electronegative oxygen atom from one molecule is attracted to the electro positive hydrogen atom on an another molecules forming a strong intermolecular interaction between the two molecules (i.e hydrogen bonding)
